Job Description
Responsibilities:
Drive the overall architecture for the Mastercard Commercial Solutions platform using your deep expertise in microservices-based architectures for the fintech industry. Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies.
Work on complex enterprise-wide initiatives spanning multiple services/programs and drives resolution.
Work with business/product owners to architect and deliver on new services to introduce new products and bundles.
Take ownership to improve the customer experience of an entire set of services/applications sold as products or bundled services.
Ensure that your solutions use 12-factor application design principles.
Design enterprise-grade APIs for services that follow Mastercard best-practices.
Design and maintain technical blueprints and service descriptions for your solutions.
Incorporate high-availability and system resiliency into your solutions to maximize up-time and capacity.
Partner with senior technical and product leaders for the platform on how to deliver on your designs.
Perform reviews to ensure teams are following your designs.
Collaborate with the principal engineers, service architects, development teams, operations, and product owners.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architects and development teams.
Represent the Mastercard Commercial Solutions program group as the primary architect and technical advocate with other groups within Mastercard.
Partner with the Architecture & Technology team to leverage best practices in global scale systems, including on-soil and cloud deployment scenarios.
Engage with external technical communities to extend our reach and benefit from the discovery outside of Mastercard and our industry
Run Principal review architecture meetings and drive resolutions to enterprise-wide challenges and regulatory needs.
Take on organization-wide and public speaking engagements and publishes white papers and blogs on relevant and emerging technical topics.
All About You:
You have an exceptional foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, web applications & services, and microservices-based software architecture.
You have solid IT experience with demonstrated thought-leadership and cross-functional influence and partnership demonstrated by a successful track record of enabling business through these technical decisions.
You have progressively grown career with proven design and development experiences in multiple languages, secure coding standards (e.g., OWASP, CWE, SEI CERT), and vulnerability management.
You have skills to develop and evangelize on reference architecture and run principles to help teams adopt Engineering Principles from the start (poison pill, active/active/active, auto-scaling, self-healing, others).
You understand use cases for advanced design patterns (e.g., service-to-worker, MVC, API gateway, intercepting filter, dependency injection, lazy loading) to implement efficient code.
You have skills to drive trade-off discussions to set right development capacity based on value drivers (e.g., regulatory, security, new business, market parity, technical debt).
You have architected & designed high transaction volume systems that operate at global scale and extreme up-time requirements.
You have demonstrated experience architecting solutions based on platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and containers, including PCF, Kubernetes, and cloud-native technologies.
You have experience with automated testing and successfully releasing software in a continuous delivery model using Git.
You have extensive experience in designing and building global-scale, back-end micro services using Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Kafka, RabbitMQ and event-driven systems.
You have a deep understanding of storage technologies such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or SQL Server, and how to effectively leverage them at massive scale.
You enjoy working in an Agile environment focused on continuous improvement.
You have a strong desire to collaborate and provide mentorship to technology teams.
You have excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical people.
You are a relentless self-starter who works quickly and efficiently to support product and technical objectives.
Nice To Have:
Experience working within the payments, commercial card space or corporate banking space
Experience migrating on-prem software to cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Experience in user interface development (Angular, React, or similar)
Experience in mobile development (native, hybrid)
Experience with NoSQL persistence software (document, columnar, key-value, graph)
