Workplace Relations Specialist

We support each of CommBank’s business units from recruiting for their talented teams, through to leadership development and training, internal mobility, advising on employee relations, and delivering remuneration and benefits programs. People are a critical part of the Group’s strategy.

Impact & Contribution: The role will work closely with the Workplace Relations (WR), Policies and Benefits function. You will act as a trusted advisor related to Policies, Benefits, Workplace relation matters, and other cross-functional projects.

Roles & Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities for the role would include the followings:

Policies and Procedures-

  • Support in draft of new policies, policy upliftment as per emerging workforce and program needs.
  • Undertaking policy reviews as per the review cycle dates.
  • Preparing groundwork and aligning policy owners for any changes in policies.
  • Helps in surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After sensitizing the information, makes recommendations on changes.


Benefits Programs-

  • Review current benefits practices for relevance and calibrate for changes.
  • Assess employees needs using various methods and techniques to find out what motivates and engages employees.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend consistent employee benefits.
  • Coordinating with different stakeholders to implement initiatives under benefits.


Workplace Relations-

  • Support in investigations for the non-complex cases.
  • Tracking and reporting for different stakeholders.
  • Support in documentation such as disciplinary letters, outcome reports, etc.
  • Support in raising awareness through employee sessions on Code of Conduct, grievance channels, and PoSH.
  • Support in advising and training managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances.


Essential Skills:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in formulation and implementation of policies and benefits across the organization, HR cross-functional projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in HRMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to think critically and analytically and use data driven insights to solve problems using advanced excel skills.
  • A demonstrated self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good follow-up skills; the ability to understand; adaptability to process changes; and a strong sense of importance and ownership.


Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Human Resources/ Business Administration/ Social Work from Top-Tier Business School.
