Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)


  • End-user facing expertise in providing remote support for hardware and software issues within end-user computer systems to include desktops, laptops, printers and mobile apps
  • Advanced knowledge and training in configuration, installation and troubleshooting desktops (MAC and PC), laptops, printers and mobile applications
  • Responds to end-user product related questions for all supported hardware, software and applications
  • Understands and maintains/outperforms service levels established
  • Analyzes problems to identify problem area(s) and provide corrective action, recommending solutions to client application and account related issues
  • Will perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop/ laptop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstations and related hardware and software in order to deliver required desktop service levels
  • Receive and respond to incoming requests regarding desktop problems
  • Experience with Networking and Servers most helpful as well!
  • Work closely with Desktop Support team members and refine process for efficiency
  • Collaborate with users to troubleshoot and fix issues
  • Ensure all support issues and solutions are documented in the Ticketing system
  • Configure, install and maintain PCs, software and peripherals
  • Perform post-resolution follow ups to maintain end user satisfaction.
  • Prepare and lead technical instruction for incoming and existing staff
  • Recognize recurring technical issues and propose and implement appropriate solutions
  • Take a proactive approach to the computing environment by identifying areas for improvement before issues arrive
  • Identify potential issues affecting multiple users and escalate to appropriate resources
  • Collaborate internally with team to identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Good Understanding of virtualization technology
  • Minimum 5 years of experience on VMware ESX 5.1, 5.5, 6.0 & 6.5
  • Proficient in vSphere ESXi & vCenter management.
  • Good understanding of HA, VMotion, NSX and DRS Cluster environment.
  • Good hands on Experience in diagnostics & troubleshooting of ESXi server environment.
  • Experience in performance tuning of VMWare servers and management of servers resources between virtual machines
  • Experience in configuration and troubleshooting of vSphere replication, SRM - Failover and Failback configuration.
  • Experience in installation of vCenter, ESXi 5.X/6.X and Configuration of vDS, HA, DRS, VUM, FT,
  • Experience in configuring DataStores, RDMs, Storage policies etc.
  • Experience in creating snapshot backups and troubleshooting snapshots. Experience in installation of NSX
  • Experience in vRealize Automation\ Orchestration\vROPs is an added advantage. Good understanding of L2/L3 networking, storage concepts
  • In depth knowledge and experience supporting VMware ESXi environments, 6.0 or greater
  • Advanced experience supporting VMware products such as NSX, vSAN, vRealize, vcloud director, Continuent
  • In depth experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Management
  • In depth experience with scripting technologies such as PowerCLI
  • Leadership or project management experience
  • Advanced Proficiency with VMware ESXi environments 6.0 or later
  • Experience supporting hyper converged storage such as vSAN
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Experience with deploy the VM build on vSphere vCenter .Strong experience in DNS and DHCP
  • Adequate Knowledge of MS Patching and Patching tools (BigFix)
  • Secondary Skillset: Windows Administration or Citrix or relevant flavors.
  • Ensures seamless 24 by 7 operations for Microsoft Windows servers,
  • Windows Server 2008, 2012, 2016 management experience: Minimum 4 to 8+ years of support for Windows environments (server and network).
  • Performs analysis, research, and design of new systems. Performs load and performance analysis on existing systems
  • Provides third level support to the program system administrators on problem solutions and performance issues
  • Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic support , Provide administrative services
  • Incident, problem and service outage management
  • Collaborate with L3 on patch and bug fix deployment
  • Identify and raise system capacity related issues (storage, licenses, performance threshold)
  • Server Performance, capacity, utilization monitoring and Health monitoring
  • Research and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution based on best practices and application functionality with minimal direction.
  • Environment monitoring pro-active monitoring to ensure performance on the server
  • Experience in a distributed environment
  • Maximizes systems availability and minimizes outages by proactive administration and responding quickly and effectively to all potential issues and outages.
  • Responds to and resolves broadcast audio and video quality issues utilizing hardware and software diagnostic tools.
  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of all business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing; updates business continuity and disaster recovery plans and procedures as required ensuring efficient recovery strategies are in place and work; executes business continuity and disaster recovery plans as required.
  • Ensures day-to-day server admin task are executed in a timely manner,
  • Resolves quickly all operational issues, identifies root causes, researches and tests solutions, and documents and communicates all findings.
  • Performs other duties and projects as required.
