About the Role

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer with strong Playwright expertise to support the migration of legacy manual test cases to modern, scalable automation frameworks. This role requires a solid automation mindset, hands-on Playwright development skills, and experience working in CI/CD-driven delivery environments. You will play a key role in improving test coverage, stability, and delivery quality in a fixed-bid, outcome-driven model.

Key Responsibilities

Manual to Automation Migration

• Analyze legacy manual test cases, including test steps, data, and expected outcomes
• Identify gaps, ambiguities, dependencies, and redundant test coverage early
• Convert prioritized manual test cases into Playwright automation aligned with defined standards
• Support test case rationalization by removing duplicates, improving clarity, and tagging critical scenarios

Playwright Automation Development

• Develop clean, maintainable automation scripts using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript (preferred) or Java
• Implement robust locator strategies using data-testid, role-based selectors, and stable DOM practices
• Leverage Playwright features such as:
• Auto-waiting and retries (used responsibly)
• Trace viewer, screenshots, and video recordings
• Parallel execution, sharding, and test tagging
• Network interception where required

API Testing & Data Validation

• Build and maintain API automation tests using:
• RestAssured (Java) and/or Playwright API Request Context
• Postman for quick validations
• Validate data integrity and end-to-end flows across UI and API layers

CI/CD & Reporting

• Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Maintain and analyze test execution reports using Allure, Playwright HTML Reports, or Extent Reports
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for failures and proactively reduce test flakiness

Required Skills (Must Have)

Playwright Automation (Critical)

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright automation
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript (preferred) or Java-based Playwright
• Expertise in writing stable UI automation:

Automation Engineering Fundamentals

• Strong understanding of automation framework patterns:
• Page Object Model (POM) or fixture-based approaches
• Data-driven testing strategies
• Reusable utilities (authentication, common flows, assertions)
• Excellent debugging skills using logs, traces, screenshots, and videos

CI/CD & Tools

• Experience with Jenkins or GitHub Actions (pipeline execution, triggers, artifacts)
• Strong Git knowledge: branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews

API Testing

• Hands-on experience with RestAssured and/or Playwright API testing
• Proficiency in Postman
• Strong understanding of request/response validation

Nice to Have

• Selenium WebDriver with Java (useful for legacy automation migration)
• Basic Appium knowledge (mobile emulation or mobile flows)
• Docker, Selenium Grid, or containerized test execution
• SQL for backend data validation
• Test management tools: Jira, Zephyr, Xray, TestRail
• Experience in regulated domains (Healthcare / FinTech) with awareness of audit trails and PII/PHI compliance

Process & Ways of Working

• Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Ability to create, maintain, and update structured test documentation
• Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and automation coverage
