Role Overview

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Shopify theme development, customization, and third-party/custom app (plugin) integration. The role involves building scalable, high-performance eCommerce solutions and experimenting with new features to enhance user experience and conversion rates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Theme Development & Integration

• Develop and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• Convert design files (Figma/PSD) into responsive Shopify themes
• Optimize themes for performance, SEO, and mobile responsiveness
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility

2. Custom Plugin / App Integration

• Integrate third-party Shopify apps and APIs
• Develop custom Shopify apps (public/private) as per business needs
• Customize existing plugins for enhanced functionality
• Work with Shopify Admin APIs, Storefront APIs, and webhooks

3. R&D & Innovation

• Research new Shopify features, tools, and trends
• Prototype and test new functionalities
• Suggest improvements for UI/UX and conversion optimization

4. Performance Optimization

• Improve page load speed and Core Web Vitals
• Optimize assets, scripts, and API calls
• Debug and fix performance bottlenecks

5. Collaboration

• Work closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and product managers
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions

Technical Skills Required

Core Skills

• Strong knowledge of Shopify Liquid
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)
• Experience with Shopify theme architecture

Advanced Skills

• Shopify App development (Node.js / PHP preferred)
• Experience with REST & GraphQL APIs
• Git version control

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Experience with Shopify Plus
• Knowledge of headless commerce
• Familiarity with frameworks like React (for custom storefronts)

Tools & Technologies

• Shopify CLI
• GitHub / GitLab
• Figma / Adobe XD
• Postman (API testing)

Key Requirements

• 3+ years of Shopify development experience
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Good communication skills

KPIs / Success Metrics

• Theme performance score (PageSpeed / Lighthouse)
• Successful plugin integrations
• Bug-free deployments
• Conversion rate improvements

Nice to Have

• Experience in eCommerce analytics tools
• Knowledge of CRO (Conversion Rate Optimization)
