Role Overview

Transition VC is looking for aVice President Energy Technologiesto lead technology thinking across our investment lifecycle. This role will focus on building a strongEnergy Transition technology thesis, evaluating startup technologies, and working closely withCTOs and technical foundersacross our portfolio and pipeline.

The ideal candidate will bring hands-on Technology experience fromEnergystartups or Energy companies,with the ability to assess technologies from both a technical depth and commercial viability perspective.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and continuously refineTransition VCs Energy Transition Technology Thesis, covering emerging technologies, innovation trends, and future opportunities.
• Leadtechnology due diligence (Tech DD)for potential investments, including architecture review, scalability, IP assessment, and technology roadmaps.
• Evaluate thetechnical strength of startups, including product maturity, engineering practices, data, security, and long-term feasibility.
• Engage closely withstartup CTOs, Product/Development teams, scientists, and technical foundersto understand technology vision and execution capability.
• Support investment teams by translating complex technical concepts intoclear investment insights.
• Identify technology risks and opportunities across portfolio companies and advise founders on technical strategy where required.
• Stay updated onenergy transition innovations, R&D developments, and relevant regulatory or industry shifts.
• Represent Transition VC in technical discussions, conferences, and ecosystem forums.

Key Requirements

• 810 years of experiencein technology leadership roles such asCTO, VP-Tech, VP-Product Development, or senior technical roles inEnergystartups, Energy companies, or Energy-focused research-driven organisations.
• Strong background inEnergy or Energy-related Industrial technologies.
• Proven experience conducting or supportingtechnology due diligencefor startups or scale-ups.
• Ability to engage credibly withCTOs, engineers, scientists, and researchers.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect technology depth to business and investment outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working inenergy transition, climate tech, renewables, storage, EVs, hydrogen, grid tech, or related sectors.
• Exposure toR&D, product commercialisation, or applied research.
• Prior experience working withVCs, investors, or corporate innovation teamsis a plus.
