Vice President of Engineering

Meritto powers the enrollment infrastructure for institutions, handling billions of student journeys, millions of leads, payments, integrations, and an emerging AI-native product line. As we scale rapidly and expand our AI-driven products globally, we are hiring a VP Engineering who can leverage AI-augmented engineering, LLM-assisted coding, code generation, and automated testing to dramatically accelerate product development.

The goal is simple - build and ship software significantly faster than traditional engineering methods by embedding AI into the entire development lifecycle. This role is about driving rapid experimentation, faster build cycles, and modern AI-native engineering workflows to unlock the next level of product velocity.

What You Will Drive

Engineering Leadership & Velocity

• Hire, build, and train high-caliber engineering teams capable of operating in fast development cycles.
• Build a high-velocity engineering culture focused on rapid product delivery with reliability.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development, LLM-driven code generation, automated testing, and modern engineering productivity tools.
• Establish a culture where teams experiment, prototype, and ship quickly.
• Define and track engineering metrics around velocity, quality, and efficiency.

Platform & Architecture

• Design and evolve systems capable of handling massive scale, high concurrency, and complex integrations.
• Drive architecture decisions around scalability, performance, reliability, and security.
• Ensure the platform supports AI-native capabilities, automation, and large-scale data flows.

Scalable Systems

• Build systems capable of handling large data volumes, mission-critical workloads, and high traffic environments.
• Strengthen platform architecture for performance, reliability, and extensibility.
• Build strong DevOps, observability, and infrastructure practices.
• Ensure uptime, resilience, and system reliability across critical platforms.

What We Are Looking For

• 15+ years of engineering experience (leading at least 50+ engineers) with significant leadership responsibility.
• Proven experience building and scaling large SaaS or internet platforms.
• Deep understanding of modern AI-assisted development tools, LLM-based coding workflows, and engineering automation.
• Strong background in distributed systems, scalable architectures, and cloud platforms.
• Track record of building fast-moving, high-execution engineering teams.
• Experience in high-growth product companies where speed of innovation matters.
