About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Vice President level Technical Manager to join our Settlement team. The role involves leading the technical strategy, design, development and maintenance of our Settlement technology applications which are primarily built on the GLOSS platform with other supporting custom Nomura applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership for the GLOSS team
- Design and implement robust and efficient technical solutions for complex settlement related business scenarios
- Work with SME s and Functional analysts to discuss technology solutions and check feasibility and viability of proposed solutions
- Work closely with senior Operations Managers globally to suggest and socialize technical solutions and implementation plans
- Attend Global Prioritization calls, Program Steer cos and represent settlement technology in those meetings
- Guide the development team with technical solutions, analyze solutions proposed by developers and team leaders and help choose the optimal path
- Work with Global Tech counterparts to drive technological improvements and modernization initiatives in GLOSS engineering and development process
- Manage relationships with Broadridge, Custodians, vendors and third-party service providers
- Help troubleshoot complex GLOSS issues, suggest system performance improvements and provide updates on key releases and significant changes
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's/masters degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field
- 15+ years of experience in financial technology, with at least 10 years focusing on International Settlement Systems
- Strong hands-on technical expertise in GLOSS application build-out and maintenance
- Deep understanding of GLOSS settlement processing systems, banking operations, and financial messaging
- Experience with modern technology stack including Java, Spring Framework, Oracle/MS-SQL databases
Required Skills (Details):
- Hands on technical expertise in GLOSS development and maintenance with high familiarity in the following aspects: Events, Processing and Transactions (EVNT, PROC, TRAN), Server components (BMSG, BPROC, BTPRO), Settlement Instruction Processing (SETD), Configuring and implementing Depot and Nostro transfers (DTRN, NTRN)
- Delivery and receipt processing (DERE) with stock and cash position keeping
- Familiarity with settlement instructions sent to SWIFT payments infrastructure (MT2*, MT5*)
- Knowledge or awareness of IS020022 initiative and implications for settlement systems
- Awareness of settlement initiatives in Global Markets like T2S (Target2-securities for Europe, CSDR move to move to T+1 cycles, CSDR Penalty calculations etc.
- Experience in Programming & Development using Java, C, RDBMS (Stored Procedures), Unix and awareness of current software engineering CI/CD practices
- Experience in managing small development teams and collaborating with Business Analysts and Operations stakeholders
