Vice Dean – School of Technology

The Vice Dean, School of Technology is a senior academic leadership role responsible for the strategic, academic, and research advancement of the School. The role requires a leader who can balance academic rigor, research excellence, industry relevance, and institutional governance in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The Vice Dean will work closely with the Dean and University leadership to strengthen teaching quality, accelerate research output, build faculty capability, and position the School of Technology as a nationally and internationally competitive academic unit.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

• Support the Dean in setting and executing the academic vision and strategy of the School.
• Ensure high standards of curriculum design, delivery, and assessment , aligned with global benchmarks.
• Drive continuous curriculum innovation in response to advances in technology, AI, and interdisciplinary fields.
• Oversee academic quality, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Research & Innovation

• Actively support the transition toward a research-intensive culture .
• Mentor faculty in research design, grant acquisition, and high-impact publications .
• Facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations within the university and externally.
• Support the establishment and growth of research centers, labs, and funded projects .
• Promote ethical, rigorous, and outcome-driven research practices.

Faculty Leadership & Development

• Support faculty recruitment , onboarding, and capability building.
• Foster a culture of intellectual rigor, accountability, and academic excellence .
• Guide performance reviews, promotions, and workload planning in alignment with institutional goals.
• Encourage collaboration, innovation, and professional development among faculty.

Industry Engagement & External Relations

• Strengthen industry partnerships to support research, internships, applied projects, and curriculum relevance.
• Represent the School in academic, industry, and policy forums when required.
• Support initiatives that enhance the Schools national and international visibility .

Student & Academic Experience

• Ensure a strong academic environment focused on competence, critical thinking, and technical depth .
• Support initiatives that balance employability with intellectual formation , avoiding purely placement-driven models.
• Address academic issues, grievances, and quality enhancement initiatives constructively.

Governance & Operations

• Assist in academic planning, budgeting, and resource optimization.
• Contribute to university committees and governance structures.
• Support data-driven decision-making for academic and research outcomes.
• Ensure transparent, accountable, and effective academic operations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Ph.D. in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong academic track record with peer-reviewed publications and/or funded research.
• Minimum 1015 years of experience in higher education, including academic leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, research mentoring, and faculty management.
• Exposure to industry collaboration, applied research, or technology-driven initiatives is preferred.
