Job Description

The Vice Dean for the School of Technology is a senior academic leader responsible for shaping and executing the Schools strategic vision in teaching, learning, research, innovation, and academic excellence. This role requires a scholaradministrator with a proven record of global research leadership , curriculum excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, mentorship of faculty and students, and significant engagement with industry and international academic networks. The Vice Dean will be a champion of intellectual rigor, transformative research impact, and world-class academic standards consistent with the aspirations of Woxsen University as a globally respected institution.


Core Responsibilities

Strategic Academic Leadership

  • Lead the design, development, and continual evolution of the Schools academic portfolio, ensuring cutting-edge curricula , pedagogical innovation, and alignment with global technology trends (AI, data science, cybersecurity, robotics, etc.).
  • Drive the implementation of academic policies and quality frameworks that reflect international best practices and accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration across Schools and research centers to enhance curricular breadth and innovation.

Research Vision & Scholarship Excellence

  • Define and advance the Schools research strategy, positioning it as a globally visible, high-impact research hub .
  • Foster a vibrant research ecosystem that supports faculty and student scholarship, external funding acquisition, and publication in top-tier journals.
  • Cultivate strategic research partnerships with industry leaders, research institutions, government agencies, and international universities.

Faculty Development & Mentorship

  • Recruit, develop, and retain outstanding faculty with strong academic and research credentials.
  • Champion a culture of excellence through mentorship programs, faculty performance evaluations, research incentives, and leadership development.
  • Ensure robust faculty engagement in curriculum design, assessment practices, and scholarly output.

Student Success & Academic Experience

  • Oversee academic advising, student progression policies, and learning support systems to ensure exceptional student outcomes and experiences.
  • Promote a culture of inquiry, ethical conduct, intellectual curiosity, and academic integrity.
  • Support programs that build student competencies, including research apprenticeships, internships, global immersion, and innovation initiatives.

Quality Assurance, Assessment & Accreditation

  • Lead data-informed academic assessment and continuous improvement processes.
  • Prepare reports and evidence for national and international accreditation and rankings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and uphold the highest standards of academic governance.

External Engagement & Thought Leadership

  • Represent the School and University at academic forums, conferences, industry consortia, and policy platforms.
  • Build and sustain meaningful collaborations with top research universities and global networks.
  • Elevate the Schools brand through keynote engagements, editorial leadership, and research consortium participation.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field of technology, engineering, computer science, or related disciplines from a reputed research-focused institution.
  • A distinguished record of scholarly research with high-impact publications and external research funding.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic leadership roles (department chair, program director, research center lead, etc.).
  • Proven ability to drive curriculum innovation, research growth, and academic excellence .
  • Strong international networks and experience in fostering cross-institutional collaborations.
  • Exceptional communication, mentorship, and organizational leadership skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • Global exposure through sabbaticals, visiting faculty appointments, research residencies, or institutional partnerships.
  • Experience with accreditation bodies and international quality standards (ABET, AACSB, QS, THE, etc.).
  • Evidenced success in attracting research grants, industry funding, and innovative educational initiatives.
  • A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and student-centered academic cultures.
