Senior VBA Developer (with Investment Banking exposure)

We are looking for an experienced VBA Developer to support automation and tool development for investment banking and capital markets teams. The role will involve building and enhancing Excel-based tools used by trading, risk and middle-office teams, improving operational efficiency and enabling faster data analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Excel VBA tools used by trading, risk and operations teams.

Automate data processing, reconciliation and reporting workflows across investment banking functions.

Build robust Excel-based analytics tools to support business decision-making.

Integrate Excel tools with databases, APIs or internal banking systems.

Optimize and refactor existing VBA applications used in production environments.

Work closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance and Operations stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver automation solutions.

Ensure data integrity, documentation and version control for all automation tools.

Required Skills

Strong experience in Excel VBA development and macro automation.

Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data modelling, Power Query).

Experience handling large financial datasets and performance optimisation in Excel.

Good understanding of SQL and database connectivity from Excel.

Prior exposure to investment banking, capital markets or financial services environments.

Understanding of trading, market risk, P&L reporting or reconciliation processes.

Familiarity with financial products such as equities, fixed income, derivatives or FX.

Exposure to Python, Power BI or other automation tools is a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
