UX Designer - Tech Lead

Role Summary

Working closely with other designers and experts, your role will be crucial in refining the digital interactive experience to support the evolution of the Design System and product development. You'll consider the end user, business objectives, and technical feasibility to deliver consistent & delightful experiences across all State Street applications. Your work will directly impact the way our clients experience our products, making their interactions with us more intuitive and enjoyable.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, business stakeholders, as well as other designers to continue evolving the Design System, and guide product teams to ensure alignment with the Design System. You will be hands-on in designing, consulting, and delivering solutions leveraging standard creative processes and tools. You will draw insights from research and usability testing to deliver best-in-class experiences for our clients. As an ambassador of the new design language and design thinking methodologies, you will champion and inspire team members across the organization to always think of the end user first and leverage best practices.

Must have skills

Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, BFA,  

6+ years of experience in a Strong design portfolio required

Research skills and analytics

Design Thinking

Wireframing and prototyping

Visual communication and UI

Experience working with design systems

Interpersonal, Collaborative, and communication skills

Good to have skills

Data synthesis and analysis

User Testing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in design, HCI, BFA or commensurate experience required
• 6+ years of experience in a Strong design portfolio required
• Solid foundation in design principles, best practices, and a passion for designing meaningful digital experiences
• Ability to take direction and execute precisely in a fast-paced environment, iterate and expand upon direction, and manage workload with remote team & leadership
• Ability to work well with peers across multi-disciplinary teams and give constructive direction to developers to execute precisely
• A solid working knowledge of industry-standard tools (Figma, Adobe Suite, Axure, or other prototyping tools, etc.)
• Ability to be detail-oriented, well organized, with excellent time-management skills
• Strong communication skills, including ability to comfortably present to peers and clients
• Experience working with design systems is a must
