Job Title: Culture & Trends Writer

Indiatimes is building a youth-first, pop culture destination for Gen Z. We are looking for someone who lives on the internet, not just reports on it.

This role is for a person who:

• Spots trends before they become mainstream
• Understands Instagram, Reddit, Discord, YouTube and Snapchat as cultures, not just platforms
• Has opinions, curiosity, and a sharp, creative lens
• Can turn internet moments into stories, formats, and conversations
• Currently work primarily in social media (meme pages, content creators, community managers, social editors, short-form video creators) and now want to graduate into multi-format storytelling across articles, video scripts, opinion pieces, and platform-native content.

Note: This is not a traditional news reporting job. This is about decoding youth culture and creating content people actually want to consume and share.

What you will do:

• Track and identify emerging trends across social media platforms on different beats, including fashion, pop culture, memes, influencers, relationships, anime, gaming, internet debates and youth lifestyle.
• Create content across formats that include website articles, social posts, script for short-form videos, opinion pieces.
• Translate internet trends into relatable stories for Gen Z
• Bring a point of view, not just information
• Participate in idea discussions and brainstorms
• Work closely with social media team and video team

What we are looking for:

• Someone who spends a lot of time on social media for personal consumption
• Knows what's trending, what's cringe, what's dying, and what's next
• Has opinions but is open to discussion
• Is comfortable creating content in text, visual formats, short videos, social-fist storytelling
• Is a Gen Z and understands Gen Z language and tone (without trying too hard)
• Is curious about trends, fashion, relationships, mental health, internet culture and influencers
• Enjoys conversations and debates more than just writing silently

Skills Required:

• 1-3 years of experience in digital media and content creation in youth culture or lifestyle platform
• Social media awareness on different platforms like Instagram Reels, YouTube shorts, Reddit threads, and Discord communities
• Comfortable with experimentation and fast turnaround
• Bonus if you run a meme page, blog, YouTube channel, or Instagram account
