Treatment Engineer - Wet Utilities

Brief Scope of Work

The engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of water and wastewater treatment systems for municipal and industrial clients. This includes process design, hydraulic analysis, preparation and review of engineering drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with environmental, regulatory, and client standards. The role requires strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams and participation in feasibility studies, treatment process optimization, value engineering, and project support activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform process design and hydraulic analysis for water/wastewater systems.
  • Design components of WTPs, WWTPs, Industrial ETPs , pumping stations, and collection/stormwater systems.
  • Develop and review PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, hydraulic profiles , and technical specifications for equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, etc.).
  • Prepare and review calculations, drawings, BOQs, technical reports , and ensure quality and compliance.
  • Support feasibility studies, treatment optimization, and value engineering initiatives.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across locations and time zones.
  • Ensure alignment with client requirements, proposal scopes, and project deliverables.
  • Support project management activities including budget, schedule, and technical monitoring.


Industry & Technical Experience

Ideal experience includes exposure to:

  • Treatment processes for municipal and industrial wastewater (e.g., activated sludge, anaerobic digestion, nutrient removal, coagulation, filtration, membranes, etc.)
  • Design of WTP/WWTP/ETP components and understanding of civil, mechanical, and structural design considerations.
  • Hydraulic design, flow control systems, valves, actuators, instrumentation.
  • Preparation of BOQs, cost estimations, and equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of international standards (Metcalf & Eddy, ATV, etc.).


Software Proficiency

  • Proficiency or familiarity with AutoCAD , Civil 3D .
  • Experience with WWTP modeling tools such as Biowin, SUMO, GPS-X , or similar, with ability to calibrate/validate models (preferred for higher-experience candidates).


Managerial/Leadership Capabilities (for senior-level candidates)

  • Ability to understand proposal scopes and client requirements.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, delegate tasks, resolve conflicts.
  • Monitor technical deliverables, quality, budgets, and schedules.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development.


Soft Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across regions and time zones.
