Job Description
The Transition Manager for Large Deal Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the complex, end-to-end migration of IT infrastructure services from an incumbent provider or customers internal team to a new service provider. This role manages high-value, multi-year contracts, focusing on seamless knowledge transfer, risk management, and achieving service stability (Go-Live) on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transition Planning & Strategy
- Define, document, and execute comprehensive transition plans for large-scale IT projects, including data centre migrations, cloud, and managed services.
- Develop and present transition solutions during the presales/tender stage.
- Structure transition costs and identify resource needs across work streams.
2. Project & Risk Management
- Manage complex, multi-year projects using structured methodologies (should have worked with Project Management tools).
- Anticipate risks, develop mitigation plans, and manage issue resolution.
- Supervise transition execution, ensuring compliance with budget and quality standards.
3. Knowledge Transfer & Operation Setup
- Manage the Knowledge Transfer (KT) phase, ensuring documentation of operational processes (SOPs).
- Establish "Transition Mode of Operations" (TMO) and lead the handover to steady-state operations.
4. Stakeholder & Team Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the transition phase.
- Lead cross-functional technical teams (SMEs) and third-party vendors.
- Provide regular progress reporting and manage executive-level stakeholder expectations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 16-20+ years in IT services, with at least 4-7+ years specifically in managing large-scale IT infrastructure transitions (Data Centre, Cloud, Managed Services).
- Methodology: Strong knowledge of ITIL 4 framework.(good to have)
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of IT Infrastructure components (Network, Server, Storage, Security).
- Skills: Proven ability to manage multi-location/geography teams, excellent communication (written/verbal), and proficiency in MS Project/Office.
- Communication- strong communicator, be able to articulate and has to be able to front end global customers
Key Metrics for Success
- Meeting Go-Live deadlines (On-time delivery).
- Staying within approved transition budget.
- Achieving post-Go Live operational stability with minimal business disruption.
