Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Fixtures and Tooling Design & Development Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and optimization of tooling, fixtures, and equipment used in semiconductor assembly processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, precision, and quality in the manufacturing environment. Your work will directly contribute to the successful assembly of high-performance semiconductor devices.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Development:

o Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and specialized equipment used in semiconductor assembly processes.

o Utilize CAD software (NX, CREO, SolidWorks & AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for tooling and fixture components.

o Perform stress analysis and material selection for tooling design to ensure durability and performance under high-precision conditions.

Process Improvement:

o Collaborate with process and equipment development engineers, operators, and other departments to identify and implement improvements in existing tooling and fixtures for better efficiency, precision, and cost-effectiveness.

o Analyze and solve tooling-related issues to optimize assembly processes and product yields.

Prototyping & Testing:

o Build prototypes of tooling and fixtures, working with the team to test and validate designs before full-scale production.

o Perform hands-on testing and qualification of tooling and fixtures in real-world semiconductor assembly environments to ensure functionality and performance standards are met.

Collaboration & Communication:

o Work with cross-functional teams including product engineers, assembly technicians, and quality engineers to integrate tooling designs into production lines.

o Provide technical support to assembly teams for troubleshooting and resolving tooling-related issues during production.

Documentation & Reporting:

o Create and maintain comprehensive design and testing documentation, ensuring all designs adhere to company standards and industry best practices.

o Assist with the development and maintenance of tooling and fixture design specifications, ensuring that all designs are documented and reproducible.

Supplier Interaction:

o Interface with external suppliers and vendors to source materials, components, and subcontracted tooling.

o Evaluate and recommend tooling and fixture suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Continuous Learning & Innovation:

o Stay updated on the latest advancements in semiconductor assembly technology and tooling design practices.

o Contribute to the adoption of new design methodologies, software tools, and materials to improve tooling and fixture designs.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

o Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field. (Masters degree is a plus).

Experience:

o Minimum of [3-5] years of experience in tooling and fixture design, preferably within semiconductor or precision manufacturing.

o Hands-on experience with CAD software (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).

o Familiarity with semiconductor assembly processes such as die bonding, wire bonding, packaging, and testing.

o Experience in material selection, stress analysis, and design validation for tooling and fixtures.

Skills:

o Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.

o Proficient in CAD software (NX, CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) for designing and modelling fixtures and tooling.

o Ability to work with cross-functional teams and provide technical expertise in tooling and fixture design.

o Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

o Excellent communication skills for documenting designs and presenting solutions to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing:

o Familiarity with semiconductor packaging technologies, especially in assembly and test operations.

Technical Knowledge:

o Knowledge of advanced materials used in semiconductor assembly, such as ceramics, metals, and plastics.

o Familiarity with automation systems, robotics, and precision tooling.

Certifications:

o Relevant certifications in mechanical design or tooling (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, etc.) are a plus.
