Job Description
Qualification: ME / M.Tech / BE: Thermal /Heat Power/ Mechanical / Automobile
Experience Range: 1 to 3 Years
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform 3D CFD simulations of battery modules and packs for thermal management and cooling system evaluation.
- Handle the complete simulation lifecycle:
Pre-processing: Geometry cleanup, meshing, and boundary condition definition.
Simulation Setup & Execution: Solver settings, run monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Post-processing & Analysis: Extraction of thermal maps, temperature distribution, flow behavior, pressure drops, and result interpretation.
- Conduct correlation and validation against test data to ensure accuracy and model reliability.
- Provide solution recommendations based on CFD results to improve thermal performance and cooling efficiency.
- Collaborate with global counterparts for alignment on simulation objectives, model assumptions, result discussions and design suggestion.
- Ensure adherence to simulation quality criteria and document all aspects of the workflow
- Maintain simulation templates, methods, and process improvements for battery CFD activities.
Must Have:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in thermal CFD simulations of battery packs/modules.
- Experience in battery electrical-thermal simulation
- Proficiency in CFD tools such as STAR-CCM+, Fluent, or equivalent 3D solvers.
- Expert in EV battery thermal management and cooling methods, with experience in 3D thermal modeling to guide design decisions across key battery components.
- Ability to define correct boundary conditions, material properties (e.g., anisotropic conductivity), and heat generation profiles.
- Expertise in post-processing and generating meaningful engineering reports and visualizations.
- Experience with result plausibility checks, bug identification, and solver troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of quality metrics to ensure accurate CFD models.
- Strong analytical thinking, technical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and team collaboration skills, with the ability to work across regions and functions.
- Flexible to attend early/late meetings with global teams or travel occasionally if needed.

- Strong knowledge of CFD theory & domain.
- Flexibility for international travel.
Good to Have:
- Exposure to simulation scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Java macros in STAR-CCM+).
- Knowledge of preprocessing tool, space claim, NX, CATIA for CFD modelling
- Understanding of battery cell behavior, electro-thermal coupling, or aging effects in CFD.
- Awareness of industry standards (e.g., UN 38.3, ISO 12405) related to battery safety and testing.
- Familiarity with simulation method development and template creation.
- Automotive industry experience preferred.
- Strong Knowledge in Automotive domain & functionality.
