Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tender Preparation:
  • Review and analyze tender documents, specifications, and drawings to understand project requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and preliminary risk assessments for potential projects.
  • Develop and manage bid strategies in coordination with management to maximize competitiveness.
  1. Cost Estimation:
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates by analyzing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Collaborate with procurement and project management teams to obtain cost inputs and negotiate pricing.
  • Factor in overheads, margins, and risk elements to ensure cost efficiency and profitability.
  1. Technical Support:
  • Work closely with design and engineering teams to ensure that project designs and plans are aligned with the requirements of the bid.
  • Provide technical clarifications during the bidding phase, addressing client queries and concerns.
  1. Documentation and Compliance:
  • Compile bid documents and ensure all technical and commercial details meet the clients specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  1. Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, project management, finance) to gather all necessary information for the bid.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes and align technical requirements.
  1. Post-Tender Follow-up:
  • Participate in post-bid meetings and negotiations, and make any required bid adjustments.
  • Follow up with clients on the tender outcome and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in tendering or estimation within the civil construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering concepts, project management, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in estimating and costing software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex project requirements and cost data.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to civil construction.
