About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Executive Leader for Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) for India & Philippines

The Commercial, Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT) head for India & Philippines will be a critical member of the CCIBT global senior management team as well as part of the Technology Leadership Team regionally to India and Philippines (IP) and play a central technology and planning role for the Commercial Bank(CB)/Corporate Investment Bank(CIB)  line of businesses by effectively balancing the technology needs of our customers with enterprise technology priorities. This role will work with Wells Fargo Technology partners to create competitive advantage and positive customer impact for the businesses through effective management of the applications portfolio, simplification of the technology solutions, enhanced time to market, strong IT governance and effective technology risk management.

The CCIBT head for India & Philippines (IP) will have overall responsibility for providing technology solutions to CB/CIB lines of businesses, leveraging enterprise services & solutions and advancing our modern technology stack. The leader will actively partner with CB/CIB/CCIBT senior executives to develop multiyear technology strategy, roadmaps and objectives aligned with business, enterprise technology and corporate strategies. A key component of this strategic role is to develop products aligned to the Banking Product and Platform Architecture (BPPA). This role will also oversee the allocation of people and financial resources to ensure technology commitments are met aligned with business outcomes.


In this role, you will:

  • Provide vision and set direction for all of technology development and infrastructure or service component for a defined business unit
  • Manage and allocate appropriate people and financial resources to ensure that projects are completed within committed time and budget, and align with strategic objectives
  • Develop and monitor long range information technology plans and policies consistent with the strategic objectives and plans of the business unit
  • Identify capacity planning, efficiency, availability, business enablement and time to market
  • Provide comprehensive consultation to more experienced management regarding business requirements
  • Recommend innovations which anticipate the future directions of both business and information technology
  • Provide technology solutions for the large business unit, including application portfolio standardization and rationalization
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy


Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of Management experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience leading highly technical teams and deliverables across diverse application technology environments.
  • Executive leadership experience managing a complex technology organization of large scale including senior managers, managers, individual contributors and vendor resources across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated prior experiences in effective engagement with operating & management committee executives, board members and external regulators.
  • Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale and complexity.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing, and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Exposure to Commercial Banking or Corporate and Investment Banking business domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology efforts across several major lines of business and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level.
  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise, and Wells Fargo Technology strategies. .
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood in support of sound decisions to meet business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated vendor negotiation and partnership skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership.

Job Expectations:

  • Leading with an Engineering Mindset – this role requires strategic technical direction and execution and the ability to interact with the organization at a technical level is important
  • Transformational leadership – this role will require a broad transition in all elements of technology delivery as outlined by the Wells Fargo Technology Strategy. This will require a continuous learning approach and skill at workforce transformation.
  • Overall responsibility for providing technology solutions to the CB/CIB lines of business including application design, development, and support. Partner closely and effectively with Group CIO for CB/CIB as well as other peer CIOs within CCIBT to deliver agreed upon CB/CIB business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate business partner value by understanding the business, advocating technology solutions to advance business initiatives, incorporating internal / external customer views, and managing key financial indicators to the benefit of Well Fargo’s shareholders.
  • Define technology strategy / roadmap, provide strategic technology perspective to LOB executive management and recommend innovations, aligned with short term & long-term business / customer requirements, enterprise priorities and industry trends.
  • Act as the single accountable senior leader for delivering technology to the CB/CIB lines of business and enterprise-wide stakeholders within the region. Represent technology as a senior leader in the CCIBT senior management team in addition to relevant business operating and risk committees.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other functional domains in the CIO enablement areas (e.g. Business Services, Architecture & Technology Transformation & Platform Management & Resiliency) and across Wells Fargo Technology (e.g. Technology Infrastructure, Chief Operating Office, Chief Technology Office, Technology Controls, Information & Cyber Security) as well as critical enterprise partners (e.g. Data Management & Insights, Enterprise Global Services, Corporate Risk, Corporate Finance, HR, Communications).
  • Be the broker/author for technology solutions that efficiently and effectively meet business needs leveraging enterprise technology services with a bias towards consistency, standards and common solutions in alignment with Bank’s platform architecture
  • Manage and/or leverage a set of critical services (e.g. PMO, Application Architects, Platform Management) to continually evolve and improve technology delivery.
  • Provide senior technology perspective on industry trends, competitive landscape and market/regulatory changes leveraging industry contacts, vendors, and strategic technology partner relationships.
  • Manage and allocate appropriate people and financial resources to ensure that projects are completed within committed time and budget and align with strategic objectives.
  • Be the senior accountable owner for in scope applications portfolio ensuring strong technology operational risk management and compliance while also driving application portfolio rationalization, optimization and modernization.
  • Assess current staff capabilities, identify talent gaps, and execute talent management actions aligned with human capital strategy. Be a champion for diversity.
