Technical Superintendent (Oil/Product Tankers)
Company Overview: We are a fast-growing shipping organization, with headquarters in Dubai
and offices in Middle East and Asia. We are engaged in transportation of crude and petroleum
products. We are seeking to expand our technical team in Mumbai by hiring experienced
Technical Superintendents to support our vessel management in an owner-operator setup.
Job Summary: Seeking a highly skilled Technical Superintendent who will be responsible for
overseeing and managing the technical operations of assigned vessels, ensuring compliance
with regulatory requirements, maintaining optimal performance, and implementing preventive
maintenance programs. This role requires a combination of sailing and shore-based experience,
with a strong emphasis on oil tanker or product tanker operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vessel Technical Management:
- Manage and monitor the technical operations of assigned vessels (ideally 4-5 vessels)
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and classification society requirements
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and oversee repair schedules
- Coordinate dry-dockings, surveys, and audits, liaising with classification societies and regulatory bodies
- Analyze vessel performance data and recommend improvements for optimal. Efficiency and cost-effectiveness
2. Crew Management and Training:
- Engagement with Crewing for Interviewing Senior officers
3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews, addressing operational issues and troubleshooting problems
- Investigate and analyze equipment failures, accidents, or incidents, and implement corrective actions
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers for technical support and spare parts procurement
4.Budgeting and Cost Control:
- Develop and monitor technical budgets for assigned vessels, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Evaluate and negotiate service contracts, spare parts procurement, and repair quotations.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit technical reports, including condition assessment reports, deficiency reports, and vetting inspection reports.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vessel documentation, including logs, certificates, and permits.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and procurement, to ensure smooth coordination.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Class 1 Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (Unlimited)
Minimum of 1 year of sailing experience as a Chief Engineer on oil tankers or product tankers
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a present Technical Superintendent / Sr. Technical Superintendent
Dual-fuel engine experience is a strong advantage
Comprehensive knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices
Strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Willingness to travel as required
