Job Overview:
We are seeking a creative and hands-on Technical Lead/AVP with extensive experience in leading teams to deliver top technical solutions, delivering data experience design to build and optimize a marketplace for data access, and exceptional experience in advanced analytics and enterprise reporting and BI solutions. This role will be pivotal in bridging business needs with data discoverability and use, ensuring our customers have access to trusted insights for use to drive our business forward.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of the LPL Intelligence Marketplace, enabling consumers to discover and use certified data and AI assets through a unified experience
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise BI solutions, including data models, data marts, and reporting systems
- Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into centralized repositories (data warehouses, data lakes)
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and deliver actionable insights
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across all BI deliverables; implement data validation and reconciliation processes
- Support and enhance data governance, cataloging, and lineage initiatives to ensure compliance and transparency
- Optimize database queries, data models, and reporting performance for scalability and efficiency
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, supporting business users and analysts in their data needs
- Document BI processes, data flows, and technical specifications; provide training and support to end users
- Stay current with BI trends, tools, and best practices; recommend and implement improvements to BI architecture and processes
Requirements:
- Proven track record of leading and developing high performing teams
- 10+ years of experience cloud-based enterprise data access delivering through business intelligence tooling, with at least 5 years focused on delivering data access to BI consumers through Tableau, Alteryx and/or other data enterprise solutions
- Bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer science or related field; Masters degree preferred
Demonstrable hands-on experience with:
- Advanced development experience in Tableau, Power BI, and Alteryx for dashboarding, data preparation, and advanced analytics
- Data modeling and warehousing: designing star/snowflake schemas, building data marts, and optimizing for analytical workloads
- ETL/ELT development: building and maintaining pipelines using tools such as Alteryx, SSIS, Informatica, Talend, or dbt.
- SQL: advanced query writing, performance tuning, and data analysis
- Scripting/programming: Python or R for data processing and automation
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
- Advanced experience with Tableau, with preferred experience in Alteryx and PowerBI as well
Core Competencies:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; heavy interaction with business customers is required
Preferences:
- Advanced knowledge and experiencing in delivering data access/discoverability experiences delivering quality trusted data for analysts to use
- Experience in developing and delivering a hub and spoke model for data analytics enablement, with the engineering hub supporting advanced users throughout the enterprise
- Experience with enterprise-scale BI deployments and self-service analytics enablement
- Demonstrated use of AI/ML tools to augment engineering and BI productivity
- Familiarity with data cataloging, lineage, and metadata management tools
- Knowledge of advanced analytics, machine learning, or statistical modeling
- BI or cloud certifications (e.g., Tableau Desktop Specialist, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics)
- Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is a plus
