Job Title: Sr. Specialist - Software Engineering

About the Job :

This position is for a Senior Data Modeler responsible for successful delivery of Acentra Health's technology initiatives. Candidates for this role will be responsible for creating and maintaining conceptual, logical and physical data models using established enterprise tools / best practices as well as be responsible for key data architecture decisions. The Senior Data Modeler will have hands-on technical knowledge and work with database developers, database administrators (DBAs), architects, data quality analysts, and other teams, as well as manage client relationships within the context of an individual role.

What you will do :

• Creates and maintains conceptual, logical and physical data models using established enterprise tools and best practices

• Conducts Business Requirements Analysis and educates the various project teams on the proper usage of data structures

• Analyzes functional and non-functional business requirements and translates into technical data requirements and create or update existing logical and physical data models

• Facilitates data modeling sessions ranging from information gathering to model validation

• Creates data architecture sections of the overall system design artifact

• Expertise in the design of Relational data structures along with data warehouses, data marts and data mining

• Is accountable for analyzing and developing complex logical database designs, logical data models and relational data definitions in support of corporate and information systems requirements

• Understands methodologies and technologies that depict flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations

• Is responsible for the identification and resolution of information flow, content issues and the transformation of business requirements into logical data models

• Responsible for maintaining and generating design documents such as logical and physical data models, data dictionaries etc.

• Identifies opportunities to reduce data redundancy, trends in data uses and single sources of data

• Understands the importance of data and come up with recommendations to segregate Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data elements to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) security mandates

• Participates in data model reviews and ensure the models comply with the company standards and policies

• Supports Production Operations as necessary

• Supports defining data management standards, best practices and guidelines.

• Interacts with all levels of the organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner

• Continues enhancing own skills on new practices, frameworks and standards

Who you are: 

Education & Experience: 

·       Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. 

·       10+ years of experience in Information Technology.

·       6+ years of Data Modeling experience.

Technical Skills

• Experience evaluating data from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level data into details as well as take details and bring to higher level for general communication. Experience with data profiling, cleansing and conforming rules.

• Experience with interpreting business information requirements to create new and update existing Conceptual, Logical, Physical (both dimensional and relational) data models in OLTP, ODS / OLAP (data warehouse) and integration environments.

• Experience with a host of commercial data modeling tools including Erwin Data Modeler and Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler.

• Experience creating SQL queries to perform data profiling and determine cleansing and conforming requirements without tools mandatory.

• Experience in ETL, Data Warehousing, ODS Data Marts and performance tuning methods.

• Experience or ability to quickly make use of query tools such as TOAD, Oracle SQL Developer, etc.

• Knowledge of emerging modeling techniques.

• Experience in physical data modeling for Oracle.

• Healthcare domain knowledge or ability to quickly pick up business processes and impacts on information/data.

• Ability to communicate with others in a diverse business and IT environment from both cultural and experience aspects.

• Ability to build consensus and understanding across business and IT.

• Should have good communication and writing skills.

• Candidates must be willing to work in an energetic, fast paced and team-oriented development environment.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively is a necessity.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

• BS in Computer Science or related discipline.

• Experience in healthcare/insurance project is preferred.

• Experience with State/Federal government projects is preferred.

• Working knowledge of AWS cloud services such as S3, Glue, DataBrew etc.

• Experience in MDM, Data Governance methodologies is preferred.
