Purpose:

The ‘Cluster Technical Lead’ position is a key role for the esteemed client; being part of the Cluster leadership team this person will be responsible to manage all Engineering related systems (Electrical and Mechanical) including maintenance, efficiency upgrades, minor projects and lifecycle replacements as well as manage consultants for new and replacement equipment to meet the standards and guidelines of the bank.  The person will be actively responsible for management of Energy and Water usage across all Countries in the Cluster.  The role will lead respective Country Engineering teams including vendor management and the self-performing technician workforce. This role, from time to time, is also expected to support and provide leadership and best practices to other account disciplines such as Health & Safety, Security, Projects, etc.

The Cluster Technical Lead will primarily be the focal point for all Engineering, Energy and Project related account issues working closely with the Subject Matter Expert network and the Country Leads to maximize the breadth of information produced across all the work-streams to provide insightful information to support decision making.

The role will also take a leadership position for ensuring a joined-up delivery approach across the spectrum of services delivered out of each country in the Cluster to deliver:

  • Asset Care and Maintenance Program
  • Inspections and Assessments
  • Lifecycle Planning
  • Energy and Water Management
  • ITO Relationship
  • Process Assurance
  • Innovation

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for Critical Processes Assurance across all countries in the Cluster
  • Responsible for implementation of Asset care and Maintenance Program in the Cluster
  • Drive Self Delivery Program implementation and optimization in the Cluster through -
    • Owning the service delivery measurement process
    • Developing and managing technical team with appropriate skills/training
    • Ensuring safe work practices
    • Complying to statutory regulations
  • Responsible in the Cluster for compliance to Data Centre SLAs and implementation of best practices
  • Responsible in the Cluster for management of risk in Critical Environment to assure business continuity through resilience robustness and maintenance strategies
  • Drive Synergy in teams deliver the functional goals in the Cluster
  • Manage key supplier and client relationships in the Cluster
  • Drive energy and environmental programmes in the Cluster
    • Consistent reporting and tracking of utilities consumption
    • Drive operational efficiencies in the engineering and facilities operations
    • Drive energy efficiency upgrades with attractive payback
    • Drive deployment of non-renewable energy sources
    • Drive reduction of carbon footprint
  • Drive innovation to enhance the service delivery in the Cluster
  • Conduct periodic control reviews of the critical processes in the Cluster and drive corrective actions
  • Act as a focal point to respond to critical engineering failures which effect Business operations through timely submission of -
    • Detailed fact-based technical incident reports
    • Root cause analysis
  • Manage the cost-effective procurement of all engineering maintenance services
  • Manage forward maintenance plans that track asset condition and projected maintenance costs on a 5 year rolling basis
  • Responsible for ensuring all engineering operations and maintenance documentation are kept in clearly identified and retrievable systems
  • Develop and assist in the delivery of a cost-effective site maintenance plans.
  • Advise changes in maintenance techniques that may be beneficial in terms of improved service levels or provide cost reduction
  • Responsible for the consistency in delivery of technical services in the Cluster

Preferred Education & Work Experience

  • Engineering degree of equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Business or financial qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a related environment
  • Experience in managing Business Critical Environments
  • Previous experience in managing the delivery of technical services
  • Managing projects in occupied data centre environments
  • Well-rounded knowledge base in workplace service solutions including portfolio management, facilities management, energy and sustainability, workplace utilization, and / or infrastructure management
  • Strong customer focus and relationship building skills
  • Commercial acumen
