The Opportunity


Queen Elizabeths School, Gurugram is seeking a visionary Music Teacher to join the founding team of our Creative and Performing Arts Academya centre of artistic excellence where talent is nurtured, creativity flourishes, and performance is celebrated.

The Role


Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons, in alignment with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Teach music theory, history, and practical musicianship including vocal, instrumental, ensemble, and digital music components.
  • Support students preparing for IGCSE and A-level Music examinations with structured instruction and personalised guidance.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, interests, and skill levels of students.
  • Integrate technology and digital tools in music composition, recording, and editing where appropriate.


Performance & Events

  • Lead and coordinate school-wide performances, recitals, concerts, talent shows, seasonal festivals, and musical productions.
  • Organise and direct ensembles, choirs, orchestras, or bands, depending on school resources and student interests.
  • Prepare students for external competitions, festivals, and collaborative community music initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Performing Arts team on interdisciplinary productions and cultural events.


Curriculum Design & Assessment

  • Design music curriculum that blend theory, creativity, cultural awareness, and technical skills.
  • Incorporate a range of musical genres and traditions to ensure inclusive and globally relevant instruction.
  • Use formative and summative assessments effectively to evaluate student progress and guide instruction.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate academic records.


Contribution to School Life

  • Inspire a strong musical culture across the school through student clubs, workshops, assemblies, and exhibitions.
  • Contribute to Queen Elizabeths School, Gurugram events, values days, international celebrations, and house competitions.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment conducive to music education.
  • Foster student leadership in music through initiatives such as peer mentoring, student-led bands, or music committees.


Professional Engagement

  • Remain informed on best practices and developments in music education and international curricula.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development programmes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support holistic student development and cross curricular projects.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and student wellbeing.



The Person


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Music, Music Education, or related performing arts discipline
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed., PGCE, or international equivalent)
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum and assessment frameworks (Checkpoint, IGCSE, A-level) is preferred
  • Minimum 23 years of teaching experience in a music role, ideally in an international or Cambridge school setting
  • Experience organising and leading performances, school events, and co-curricular music programmes
  • Proven ability to inspire and motivate learners of all abilities in both classroom and performance settings


Personal Qualities

  • Strong musicianship (vocal and/or instrumental) and ability to model and teach technical music skills
  • Technologically proficient in music software (e.g., GarageBand, Sibelius, Soundtrap) and audio equipment
  • Collaborative, reflective, and committed to inclusive, student-centred education
  • Culturally responsive with a global outlook and respect for diversity
