What is the Tax Specialist – Global Corp Tax group responsible for?
Preparation and/or review of all U.S. federal and state tax returns, as required for Franklin Resources, Inc., and its subsidiary entities. (Skilled in handling U.S. Federal Tax Returns, US Form preparation (1120 and 1065,) Corporate Taxation. Assist with the preparation of and/or review the U.S. tax accrual and estimated corporate tax provisions related to US entities. Complete other tax compliance and tax research requirements including participating in special projects in support of corporate tax goals and objectives as directed by the US Tax Managers for Corporate Tax. Research the application of U.S. federal and state tax laws, as well as court decisions, to aid in corporate decision making on decisions with tax ramifications; advise the US Tax Managers of Corporate Tax on all matters of U.S. federal and state taxation.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Tax Specialist?
Prepare U.S. 1120 federal and state tax returns for Franklin Resources, Inc. and its subsidiaries.
Assist with notices, audits, and quarterly estimated tax payments.
Prepare quarterly provision calculations including book/tax differences, Effective Tax Rate, Uncertain Tax positions, and FIN48.
Complete other tax compliance and research tasks, including special projects.
Research federal and state tax laws to support corporate decision-making and advise on tax matters
What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be Successful?
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or tax, with completion of basic coursework for an advanced degree.
Experience: Minimum of three years of tax experience in a Public Accounting/Big 4 firm preferred; private industry experience is a plus.
Taxation Knowledge: Substantial exposure to US corporate and partnership taxation, tax requirements, and issues.
Tax Preparation Skills: Skilled in preparing U.S. Federal and State Income tax returns and other US tax forms; corporate tax experience preferred.
Accounting Background: General accounting background with experience in accounting principles, interpreting financial statements, and tax accruals; tax provisions experience is a plus.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of tax software (Onesource Income Tax, State Apportionment, Onesource Tax Provision), Microsoft business applications, ERP systems, and tax research tools like Checkpoint.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to develop solutions consistent with organizational objectives.

Work Shift Timings - 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM IST (Mon – Wed) / 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM IST (Thu – Fri)
