Tax Manager - 1040HNI

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager 1040 (HNI) to manage and review U.S. individual tax returns for High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNI) . The role involves handling complex tax situations, providing strategic tax planning, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and review complex U.S. individual tax returns (Form 1040) for HNI clients
• Prepare and review related forms and schedules including:
• Schedule A, B, C, D, E, and K-1s
• Forms 1116, 2555, 3520, 5471, 8621, 8938, 8949, and 8960
• Handle complex investments, stock options, RSUs, restricted stock, and partnership interests
• Manage multi-state tax filings and residency/apportionment issues
• Provide tax planning and advisory services for wealth management, estate planning, and gift tax strategies
• Review foreign income reporting and compliance (FBAR, FATCA)
• Identify tax-saving opportunities and risk areas for clients
• Lead client communications, resolve IRS/state tax notices, and represent clients before taxing authorities
• Mentor and manage junior staff, provide technical guidance and training
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, deadlines, and quality standards

Required Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors/Masters in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or EA preferred)
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in U.S. individual tax compliance
• Strong experience with HNI clients and complex 1040 returns
• Technical Skills:
• Deep knowledge of U.S. tax law and regulations
• Experience with tax software such as UltraTax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or Drake
• Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent client communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
