This Tax Director occupies a unique intersection of high-level tax technical expertise, client relationship management, and operational leadership. This role oversees a portfolio of clients, ensuring their tax functions are managed efficiently and strategically.

Is responsible for leading the delivery of comprehensive tax compliance and reporting services. This leader act as a strategic partner to clients (often CFOs or Heads of Tax), helping them with process improvements to mitigate risk and drive financial efficiency.

What youll be doing:

Strategic Client Leadership:

• Trusted Advisor: Serve as the primary executive contact for a portfolio of clients, advising on complex business tax issues, Individual, and international tax implications.
• Business Development: Drive growth by identifying new service opportunities within existing accounts and leading proposals for prospective clients.

Technical Oversight & Compliance:

• Complex Review: Provide final technical review for intricate federal, state, and international tax returns for corporations and partnerships.
• Provision & Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of tax provisions, ensuring accuracy in financial statements and SEC filings.

Operational Excellence & Technology:

• Process Transformation: Implement digital tax solutions (e.g., OneSource, Vertex, or AI-led tools) to automate manual workflows and improve data accuracy.
• Risk Management: Develop and maintain internal governance frameworks to identify and mitigate tax risks across multiple jurisdictions.

Team Leadership:

• Mentorship: Lead and coach a multi-disciplinary team of tax managers and associates, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Resource Planning: Manage department utilization and balance workloads to ensure quality delivery during peak compliance seasons.

What are we looking for:

• Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) / Enrolled Agent is almost universally required.
• 15+ years in tax, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (often in Public Accounting).
• Mastery of ASC 740, federal/state compliance, and international tax.
• High-stakes negotiation, executive presence, and the ability to manage remote/global teams.
