Tax Accountant II

Responsibilities:

• Perform fuel and excise tax related accounting tasks as assigned
• Prepare fuel and excise tax return workpapers, forms and resulting payment request in compliance with multiple regulatory jurisdictions
• Responsible for general ledger entries and reconciliations of assigned tax liabilities in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices
• Compile audit documentation as needed
• Research filing discrepancies and communicate issues to management to ensure accurate accounting for tax accruals and related ledger activity
• Conform and adhere to internal controls over tax accounting procedures as set forth by upper management.

Experience needed to succeed:

• 1 to 3 years of Indirect tax reporting, accounting and reconciliation experience in a corporate environment, specifically related to U.S. motor fuel and excise tax
• Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Advanced Excel skills (i.e. x-lookups, sumifs, pivot tables)
• Familiarity with Power BI a huge plus
• Ability to multi-task and complete projects within specific deadlines
• Strong computer, presentation and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
