Position: Supplier Quality Development Coordinator

Reporting to: Supplier Quality Development Lead

No. of Direct Reports: Nil

No. of Indirect Reports: Nil

 

Key Purpose of the Job :

The Supplier Quality Development Coordinator is responsible for taking up special projects for identified set of suppliers to resolve quality issues through defined action plans. Identifying cause and effect for quality issues, streamlining supplier production process, providing inputs and closely working with Suppliers to meet Elgi's quality standards is critical to the role holder.

 

Educational Qualification / Experience required :

- Graduate degree in Engineering
- Experience of 4 to 6 years in supplier quality, with exposure to supplier evaluation and development activities, in manufacturing sector (preferably, in general engineering, auto component products)
- Should possess experience in ISO certified environment
- Should possess knowledge in quality systems, standards and tools

 

Key Responsibilities :

1. Responsible to collate supplier quality issues in coordination with inward, line and customer quality
2. Prepare and execute action plan for assigned supplier development and improvement projects
3. Provide support in new supplier evaluation, ISO certification in existing supplier facilities, streamlining production processes and other related special projects / initiatives

 

Task Analysis:

Indicative Tasks

1. Responsible to collate supplier quality issues in coordination with inward, line and customer quality

Coordinate with stake holders including Production, Quality, Materials to prepare list of recurring quality issues, critical customer complaints related to supplier quality in defined formats

Attend meetings including functional DWM and EWM to understand recurrent issues and update Production, Quality on status of complaints / issues / rework related to assigned suppliers

Physically witness material in shop floor, collect photographic / video graphic evidence of quality issues for analysis and improvement action plan

Visit supplier facilities to raise awareness on quality issues faced and prepare plan for further course of action accordingly

Work with supervisor to understand nature of projects instituted and to prepare plan of action and timelines to meet business requirements and goals

2. Prepare and execute action plan for assigned supplier development and improvement projects

Collect data on quality issues for allotted suppliers along with data points including number of occurrences, containment action taken, others

Analyze, stratify data across suppliers to understand critical failure areas and list suppliers commonly prone to defaults

Use quality tools to analyze the issues / problems and action plan for the project (for example, root cause analysis, trends analysis)

Prepare required documentation including part drawings, process flows, SOPs and update, as required

Prepare action plan for suppliers, follow-up / monitor planned activities by visiting supplier facilities

Analyze further corrective actions to be undertaken at supplier facilities depending on fitment / performance issues

Institute process corrections at supplier facilities and monitor periodically to ensure error recurrence is minimized

Conduct scheduled visits to allotted suppliers to analyze bottlenecks preventing progress in action plan / corrective action / projects and achieving PPM, project targets

Assist supplier in identifying, implementing corrective actions to ensure process related issues are resolved

Document observations, update SOPs, MSOPs, manuals and other documentation, periodically (for example, supplier PDI checklist)

3. Provide support in new supplier evaluation, ISO certification in existing supplier facilities, streamlining production processes and other related special projects / initiatives

Support in checklist preparation by Global sourcing, conduct audits as per checklists / guidelines on supplier evaluation, as necessary

Assist in developing training material for specific suppliers based on training requirements and improvement activities

Work with suppliers on a day to day basis to complete special projects / initiatives within the stipulated timeframes

Support new projects, prepare documentation, reports based on business needs on an ongoing basis
