SUMMARY:
Allegion, a global leader in security products and solutions, is seeking a proactive and experienced Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) to join our team in Bangalore, India. This role is pivotal in supporting Allegion Global (Americas & International) business units by driving supplier development and onboarding initiatives. The SDE will focus on evaluating and enhancing supplier capabilities to meet Allegion’s quality, cost, and delivery standards.
As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will serve as a critical interface between Allegion’s global cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing, and our supplier base in the region. Your role will emphasize supplier identification and conducting Onsite Assessments (OSA) as a critical part of the supplier onboarding process to determine the suitability of suppliers for Allegion's business needs. This position reports to the Supplier Quality Engineering Manager, Americas, with a strong functional alignment to the Regional Procurement Manager, India. If you are passionate about developing robust supplier partnerships and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct Onsite Assessments across the APAC region to evaluate supplier capabilities for new sourcing activities and facilitate supplier onboarding by ensuring alignment on technical specifications, quality standards, and operational expectations via PPAPs with plant quality personnel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing, to identify and qualify new suppliers that align with Allegion’s strategic and sourcing goals and ensure the supply base supports business growth.
- Lead supplier development initiatives by identifying gaps in supplier performance and collaborating with suppliers to improve processes through capability studies, FMEA, MSAs/GRRs, control plans, and error-proofing techniques.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) programs by facilitating supplier readiness for Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) activities, including Characteristics Review Process, yield reviews, and run-at-rate activities.
- Conduct supplier audits, performance reviews, and support other supplier-related initiatives, such as scorecards, risk assessments, and performance tracking, to monitor compliance and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Collaborate with global and regional teams to develop and document standardized supplier development processes, tools, and metrics.
- Act as a technical liaison between Allegion and suppliers, ensuring clear communication of requirements, expectations, and feedback.
- Train internal teams and suppliers on quality tools, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent application and understanding of Allegion’s requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electronics, Quality, etc.), Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field is required.
- 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience with increasing responsibility in the areas of Supplier Quality, Supplier Management, or a related field, including at least 2 years of direct in-plant manufacturing experience.
