Static Equipment Engineer - Lead

We are looking for Static Equipment Design Engineer - Lead for our Essar UK Services office based in Airoli, Navi Mumbai:

Principal Accountabilities:

• Support day-to-day operations by providing strategic engineering support of the operating assets; this includes design changes, minor project scopes, long-term maintenance support and technical input into long-term process or reliability related issues
• Perform Management of Change for design packages and associated changes
• Provide requirements for mechanical static equipment specification in requisitions / datasheets and selection as well as engineering package technical content.
• Provide / Prepare Technical bid package based on the tender / drawings along with complete technical specifications including drawings, datasheet etc. Provide relevant technical inputs to procurement team for RFQ.
• Provide technical support for planned mechanical equipment scopes occurring on site during routine, campaign maintenance or turnarounds
• Develop engineering work packages for brownfield projects, maintenance activities and turnarounds
• Support mechanical equipment fitness for service assessments in accordance with API codes and standards, as well as providing support for Root Cause Analysis Investigations and other equipment related incidents
• Identify mechanical equipment risks and deliver solutions to enable safe operation of the plant
• Review and optimise design in line with latest standard, codes, safety and costs.
• Provide inputs & guidance to the engineers / draftsmen for preparation of GAD, Fabrication & detail drawings etc.
• Liaising with project site execution team / vendor/ consultant for updating all engineering activities
• Resolve issues related to design changes / material specs during execution / construction phase of the projects.
• Liaise with vendors for evaluation of technical offers and ensure that material / equipment / item procured is complying to tender specifications or client requirement.
• Ability to understand and use relevant National and International Codes and Standards, use them effectively in designing activities and providing optimal design solution including value engineering.
• Make technical decisions on requests for exceptions / deviations to specifications or standards.
• Lead technical recommendations and guidance to equipment suppliers performance and delivery.
• Accountable for preparation of mechanical equipment for factory acceptance test (FAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) plans
• Lead other engineers in the mechanical engineering subject area team to deliver scope through mentoring, coaching and peer reviews.
• Interface with other disciplines, construction, commissioning and operations teams for mechanical design.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.
• 12-14 years of experience in Mechanical (Static) design engineering, preferably in oil and gas, with minimum 5 years proven experience as a Mechanical Engineering lead.
• Experience in design and construction of Static Equipment in various industrial plants like Oil & Gas, refineries, chemical, petrochemical etc. with an EPC/ Vendor/ Consultant.
• Hands on experience of mechanical design of process equipment like shell & tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, process columns, storage tanks using National and International codes like ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1, Div. 2, TEMA, API 650, API 620, PD 5500, IS 2825, BS 4994, industry standards (ASME, BSI, ISO, IOGP), local regulations relevant to mechanical engineering.
• Experience of mechanical engineering delivery in Projects including design, specification, procurement, fabrication and commissioning.
• Experience as competency assessed lead engineer in client or contractor organisation.

• Site construction & commissioning experience is an added advantage.
• Working knowledge of SAP is an added advantage.
