Staff Software Engineer

Scatterlink is a fast-growing, product-based SaaS company buildingIoT-powered inventory tracking, analytics, and ERP-integrated solutionsfor industrial operations. We are looking for aStaff/Technical Lead Backend / Distributed Systems (710 years experience)to lead backend architecture and help scale the platform as we enter a major growth phase in 2026.

Location:On-site, Mumbai (MondayFriday + alternate Saturdays)

Start Date:Immediate

Type:Full-time (not remote)

What youll work on:

• Lead backend architecture for aSaaS-first, event-driven platform
• Design and build scalable backend services usingTypeScript, Node.js, and Python
• Own core data systems acrossPostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Build and maintainevent-driven integrationsusingKafka / message queues / event bridges
• Design reliable data flows between mobile apps, IoT devices, backend services, and ERP systems
• Support analytics and AI-driven features (data pipelines, inference workflows, cost-aware design)
• Ensure system reliability: idempotency, retries, failure handling, observability
• Mentor junior engineers and set backend engineering standards
• Collaborate closely with frontend, IoT, and product teams

What were looking for (must-haves):

• 710 yearsof strong backend engineering experience
• Deep hands-on experience withdistributed systems & event-driven architectures
• Strong proficiency inNode.js, TypeScript, andPython
• Experience withKafka, message queues, or similar async systems
• Solid understanding ofdata consistency, scalability, and system design
• Experience buildingenterprise-grade SaaS platforms from scratch
• Exposure toanalytics, data platforms, or AI/ML-enabled systems
• Comfortable leading technically and mentoring junior developers
• Startup mindset: ownership, pragmatism, and ability to build under ambiguity

Nice to have:

• Experience integrating withERP systems(D365, SAP, or similar)
• Background inIoT, high-volume event ingestion, or real-time systems
• Experience optimizing performance, cost, and reliability at scale
