The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology, and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53,000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.

As a Staff Engineer, you are a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME), consulting on technical strategies, products, and feature designs, and will be critical to our quality implementation and delivery. You will have the opportunity to work as a Full Cycle Engineer, including automation development, systems integration, and contributing to the evolution of our platforms and business strategy. This role will see you lead key project initiatives that drive the organisation’s automation and optimisation capabilities, including the design and deployment of secure, scalable infrastructure and services in cloud environments such as AWS. Collaborating with this team will see you take ownership for a variety of platforms and services including Sailpoint, CyberArk and PingID.

You will also be invited to attend our regular engineering guilds to broaden your expertise and participate in agile ceremonies, allowing you to contribute to and help define the way we operate.

• You have knowledge that spans both development and operations, including coding, infrastructure management, system admin/engineering, and DevOps Toolchains

Roles & Responsibilities: -

• Have a strong application development background in .NET, JavaScript / TypeScript, building for web and mobile with an expert understanding of AWS cloud services and product solutions.
• Are passionate about building resilient and secure cloud infrastructure to support application development on AWS.
• Are proficient in driving technical engineering, product strategies and or roadmaps across a complex technical ecosystem.
• Have a proven track record in designing and delivering mission critical solutions.
• Understand the complexity and challenges in delivering scalable solutions in an enterprise setting.
• Can drive initiatives, define and investigate problem spaces, gain support for recommendations, design solutions and deliver the outcome.
• Are a strong technical leader with the ability to inspire an engaged a team of engineers, mentor and foster a culture of excellence, and provide technical leadership.

Essential Skills:-

At CBA, we use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to possess knowledge in all of them but experience or exposure with some of them or their equals will set you up for success in this team.

• 12 – 15 years of relevant IT experience
• Expert in SDLC with broader experience around architecture, design, implementation, deployment, integration, and technology transformations are essential.
• Background in building cloud services AWS – IaC specifically working and deploying applications on EC2 instance is essential for this role.
• Cloud Management: AWS (EC2), with the ability to configurate essential.
• Software: .Net Framework, Web API, Kafka, JS framework (Angular or React).
• Coding languages: (i.e. python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, Jave).
• DevSecOps: CI/CD tools (i.e. GitHub Action, TeamCity, Sonarqube, Artifactory, Octopus).
• Network: – Firewall, network segmentation, infrastructure as code, API gateway integration segmentation.
• DevSecOps: Security scanning tools – Checkmarx, Snyk are highly regarded.

Education Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
