Job Title: Staff Platform Engineer
Location: Bangalore-Manyata Tech Park
Business & Team: The Network Engineering team is responsible for delivering network requirements and implementation to achieve business outcomes. The CTO Networks team is responsible delivering, supporting and continuously improving the Bank’s Global Network and Security services.
Impact &contribution: Technology is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.
The purpose of this role is to provide sound input and engineering design, implementation and support in order to drive excellence, quality and performance for an IT service, across one or multiple portfolios. The Staff Platform Engineer (Network) is required to effectively build and maintain relationships with: Senior managers, Solution Designers, Network and System Engineers, Project Delivery teams and third-party vendors that provide technology services for the group.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Author and maintain detailed network security design documents, ensuring accuracy and representation of design and implementation plans and configuration of network security changes into CBA’s network services and devices
- Mandatory knowledge and demonstrated experience of Cisco Switches (Nexus and IOS), Routers and Firewalls.
- Mandatory knowledge and demonstrated understanding and design of core switching and routing technologies such as VXLAN EVPN, Data Centre (DC) Technologies, IPSec VPN, BGP, OSPF And STP, MST, VPC, NAT.
- Desirable experience in F5 GTM, LTM, and Azure/AWS network security group enforcement policies and firewall management.
- Discovery and validation of network connectivity requirements using enterprise tools such as Algosec, Splunk and AWS VPC flow logs, R53, Cloud redirect and Cloudfront, SolarWinds, Qualys, and Infoblox.
- Manage escalation of complex technical issues from suppliers, operations and application teams
- Supporting and implementation of changes outside of regular business hours
- Mentoring of Engineers across multiple technologies
- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate after hour changes
- Work with project teams to understand network connectivity.
- Understanding of integrating to public cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Azure, and hybrid cloud network integration.
- Ensure all services within the IT service portfolio are managed with consideration to network, capacity, platform, sociability/scalability factors and target architecture
Essential skills:
- Experience with technology in a large organization
- Minimum of 14 years experiences within IT Network
- Minimum 6 years of design or architecture experience
- Specialized knowledge of development and design methodologies
- Design or architecture experience
- Network scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Python, NSO, Yang, Terraform, JSON Script
- Experience within the Financial Service industry
- Experience of Net DevOps
- Experience in leading a small team of Engineers
- Specialized knowledge of development and design methodologies
Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
