Were building the next generation of agentic platforms and solutions AI systems that plan, reason, and act in enterprise environments. While the AI engineers are building the brains, youll architect the nervous system: the APIs, infrastructure, and backend intelligence that make it all production-grade.

As our Staff Backend Engineer, youll be working shoulder to shoulder with AI engineers, product designers, and founders to ship systems that are modular, scalable, and battle-tested all while pushing the boundaries of whats possible with autonomous agents.

What Youll Do

• Design, build, and scale backend systems that power our AI orchestration engine including API layers, state management, async job queues, task planners, and more.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate LLM-based agents, RAG pipelines, vector stores, and multi-agent orchestration tools into a robust backend architecture.
• Build platform capabilities such as:
• Agent identity management and secure credentials
• Agent task routing and lifecycle management (e.g. using Temporal)
• Modular plugin and tool-execution infrastructure
• Own the API and service architecture used by front-end apps, third-party APIs, and clients.
• Optimize for performance, observability, and reliability your work will run thousands of real-world agent workflows every day.
• Champion clean code, test automation, CI/CD, and documentation across the team.
• Contribute to platform-level decisions: event streaming, agent memory persistence, auth layers, deployment pipelines, cloud infra, etc.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and raise the bar across engineering quality and speed.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer with a proven track record of designing scalable systems in fast-paced environments.
• Expert in Java and confident working with microservices, serverless functions, etc.
• Experience building distributed systems with tools like PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, REST APIs, etc.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration engines like Temporal, or equivalent and building resilient async pipelines.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures (GCP, AWS, or Azure), containers (Docker), and infra-as-code (Terraform).
• A builders mindset you thrive in 0-to-1 environments and care about impact.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Youre comfortable working cross-functionally with AI teams, design, and product leadership.
