What does the role mean at UrbanPiper:
As the US Book-keeper & Accounts Payable Specialist, you play a crucial role in ensuring the financial integrity and smooth daily operations of UrbanPiper’s US business. Your work directly supports our global finance function by maintaining accurate records, enabling timely payments, and ensuring compliance with US accounting standards. By collaborating closely with our India-based finance team and external consultants, you help create a unified, reliable, and audit-ready finance operation that supports UrbanPiper’s growth and reputation.

In this role, you will:

● Record and maintain all transactions for the US entity in our accounting platform with a high degree of accuracy.

● Process and verify US vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payments, ensuring compliance with company policy and US regulations.

● Perform regular bank, ledger, and credit card reconciliations for the US entity.

● Maintain and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable aging schedules, ensuring timely collections and payments, and proactively follow up on overdue balances

● Prepare the US books for month-end and year-end close, supporting audit readiness and statutory compliance.

● Collaborate with the Bookkeeping & AP Specialist for other regions to ensure consistency and resolve discrepancies.

● Provide documentation and support for US statutory filings, audits, and compliance, coordinating with external US consultants as needed.

● Assist the Finance Controller with ad hoc accounting and finance tasks related to the US entity.

What you need to Succeed:

● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a CA early in your career

● Minimum 2 years of book-keeping or accounts payable experience, ideally with exposure to US accounting practices.

● Proficiency in Zoho Books or similar accounting software.

● High attention to detail and accuracy.

● Effective communication and the ability to collaborate in a distributed, multi-region team.

● Knowledge of US GAAP and statutory compliance is preferred.

● Advanced Excel skills for reconciliation and reporting are a plus.

● Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with a drive for optimising workflows through automations.

What Success looks Like:

● US books are always accurate, up-to-date, and ready for audit or statutory review.

● Receivables and payables aging schedules are closely monitored, with timely follow-up on outstanding items and minimal overdue balances

● All vendor payments, reconciliations, and statutory filings are completed on time and without errors.

● You work seamlessly with the other regional bookkeeper, ensuring consistency and smooth group reporting.

● The Finance Controller and management can rely on your data for decision-making and compliance.

● You proactively identify and help implement process improvements, contributing to a culture of efficiency and accountability at UrbanPiper.
