Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

About Team:

GIF stands for Global Integrated Fulfillment which is Walmart’s premier store fulfillment one-stop solution to help Walmart’s stores fulfill all their store operations including picking, staging, dispensing etc of an order.
We work on all incidents across the GIF pipeline supporting all US & non US geographies which currently includes UK, Mexico, Canada and the South Africa. We also provide on-call support for all alerting originating out of the GIF system through our alerting platforms like Dynatrace, Splunk etc. We additionally invest time into building utilities for our internal support needs. At Walmart, customer experience is at the forefront of everything we do. To help us support functional systems that improve customer experience we are now looking for an experienced ProdOps Engineer. They will be responsible for supporting product updates, identifying production issues and developing utilites that meet our customers' and stakeholder needs. What you will do:

As a Support Analyst for Walmart , you’ll have the opportunity to

  • Hire, Develop and Retain a strong team of software engineers for GIF's newest expansion MFC
  • You will work in our own internal open stack cloud, Azure, using several technologies including but not limited to JAVA, Spring, Kafka, Azure SQL DB, REST APIs, Python, Node JS, Golang etc.
  • Help define Support Roadmap and own the entire support delivery end to end
  • Work very closely with different product and business stakeholders at various locations in US and India to drive the execution of multiple business plans and technologies
  • Support business objectives by collaborating with business partners to define priorities, identify opportunities and drive resolutions
  • Independently own and address and resolve applications issues, provide updates and drive root cause analysis including identifying issue patterns and working with Engg teams to address them
  • Responsible for coming up with processes to maintain incident support metrics like backlog, MTTR, INC SLAs etc
  • Plan, execute and implement applications and configuration change procedures
  • Responsible for on-call manager support as per pre-determined shift roster which includes weekend support. Any weekend support provided translates into compoffs on weekdays as per pre-approved plan
  • Conceptualize the idea for process improvements and/or automation frameworks that will make for more effective Support engagement
  • Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with product, engineering and management teams across different geographic locations
  • Gain and maintain expertise in flow of application process and systems related to domain
  • Flexibility - responsibilities may require occasional evening and weekend work

What you will bring:

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream – Computer Science preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, Minimum of 7 years of experience with agile principles and practices. Experience in leading Scrum teams.
  • Hands on experience in managing operations teams for scalable cloud native software platforms/applications
  • Very strong understanding and experience in the area of software development lifecycle.
  • Strong Java/J2EE, Spring skills.
  • Working knowledge in a Cloud based service.
  • Strong understanding of CS Fundamentals, Data Structures, Algorithms and Problem Solving
  • Ability to code/Script in one of the languages (C#, Python and Java) and working knowledge of SQL and Databases is must
  • Worked on monitoring (Dynatrace/Appdynamics) and alerting tools (Xmatters/PagerDuty)
  • Mentoring team on technology and process for automation need

Technical Skills:
Core Skills : JAVA,J2EE, Scripting (Shell/Python) - Any one preferable
DataBase: SQL Database - Must have
Messaging and communication: Kafka/RESTful - Basic debugging knowledge
App monitoring tools: Splunk, Dynatrace/Appdynamics - Strong debugging knowledge
Cloud Technologies: MS Azure, GCP and Open Stack - Basic debugging knowledge
