Sr Staff Engineer ( SDET) - AI+SaaS Platform- Billion Dollar Startup in India

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive the QA strategy and roadmap for AI-powered and SaaS platforms, continuously improving automation coverage, release quality, and engineering velocity.
• Design, build, and scale test automation frameworks across API, UI, and data validation layers, leveraging AI-assisted automation tools where applicable.
• Partner closely with Data Science and Engineering teams to validate AI/ML workflows, analytics pipelines, and model integrations in production-grade environments.
• Lead performance, security, and regression testing initiatives to ensure enterprise platforms meet reliability, scalability, and compliance standards.
• Conduct root-cause and trend analysis to identify quality gaps and recommend process, tooling, or automation improvements.
• Establish and document QA processes, best practices, and release readiness criteria , maintaining alignment with Agile and SAFe delivery models.
• Ensure end-to-end test coverage across microservices, APIs, mobile, and web applications in a multi-tenant cloud environment .
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within QA teams, promoting high standards of quality engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering , or a related field.
• 710+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance , with strong emphasis on automation-first testing.
• Expert-level proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript .
• Proven ability to understand complex systems, author high-quality test cases, and build robust automation suites with meaningful assertions and validations.
• Hands-on experience using AI-driven tools to accelerate and enhance test automation.
• Strong experience with modern test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, RestAssured).
• Solid expertise in API testing tools such as Postman, Newman, Karate, or equivalent.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tooling (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Demonstrated ability to design effective test strategies for large-scale, distributed systems .
• Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience testing microservices-based architectures and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on exposure to performance and load testing tools (JMeter, Gatling, k6).
• Practical experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience within QA or Quality Engineering teams.
• Experience validating data-driven or analytics-heavy applications .
