About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our database systems. The DBA will ensure the security, performance, and availability of data while supporting business needs and ensuring compliance with industry best practices. This role involves collaboration with IT, development teams, and stakeholders to design and implement robust database solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management:

  • Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and tools.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure database availability and reliability.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and migration as required.

Optimization and Tuning:

  • Analyze and optimize database performance to enhance query speed and efficiency.
  • Manage database indexing, partitioning, and schema updates.

Security and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain database security policies to safeguard data.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company data policies.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly.
  • Provide on-call support for database emergencies.

Development Support:

  • Collaborate with developers to design and review database architecture.
  • Support data modeling, database design, and integration efforts.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations and processes.
  • Generate regular reports on database performance and usage.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a DBA with expertise in database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Hands-on experience with database management tools and utilities.
  • Knowledge of cloud database solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in SQL and database query optimization.
  • Familiarity with data backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Shell, or PowerShell is advantageous.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
  • AWS Certified Database - Specialty
