Sr. Product Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Product Engineer NPD is responsible for leading the technical execution of new IT hardware products from concept through development, validation, and production release. The role focuses on translating product requirements into robust hardware solutions while working closely with design, firmware, validation, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. The Senior Product Engineer ensures that products meet performance, quality, cost, and reliability targets and are successfully transitioned into mass production.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development & Engineering

• Lead end-to-end NPD activities for IT hardware products such as servers, workstations, storage systems, or related platforms.
• Translate product and customer requirements into technical specifications and engineering deliverables.
• Support system architecture definition, component selection, and design reviews.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with hardware design, BIOS/BMC, OS, validation, and manufacturing teams during product development.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for component qualification and technical issue resolution.
• Act as a technical bridge between product management, engineering, and production teams.

Validation & Production Readiness

• Support platform validation, qualification testing, and release sign-off activities.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of design, integration, or production issues.
• Support pilot builds, pre-production runs, and production ramp-up.

Cost, Quality & Lifecycle Management

• Ensure products meet BOM cost, quality, reliability, and compliance requirements.
• Drive design optimizations, ECOs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support product lifecycle activities including updates, field issues, and EOL planning.

Documentation & Process Improvement

• Create and maintain engineering documentation such as product specifications, design notes, validation summaries, and production handover documents.
• Contribute to standard operating procedures and NPD process improvements.

Production & Validation Alignment

• Work closely with validation and testing teams to define acceptance criteria and release sign-offs.
• Support pilot builds, pre-production runs, and production ramp-up.
• Ensure smooth transition from development to mass production.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
• 68 years of experience in Product Management or NPD roles within IT hardware, OEM, or enterprise technology environments.
• Strong understanding of IT hardware platforms such as servers, workstations, storage systems, or networking products.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex product development cycles.
• Ability to translate market and customer requirements into clear technical and business specifications.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills.
