We are looking for an experienced Senior Software development manager to lead the development of highly visible control services that enable developers to launch new devices and functionalities.
In this role, you will be a member of the leadership team and a technical leader responsible for service development and operations.
You will manage software managers and technical leaders.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will set goals, team structure and processes, define/develop/realize the strategy and roadmap, identify resource requirements and hire against it, develop the careers of managers and engineers, deliver high
- quality software that exceeds customer expectations, write docs that communicates bold vision, and maintain operational excellence of the services you own.
A day in the life
You will work with stakeholders from Alexa Echo devices, Smart Home and Auto domains to define/deliver roadmap, cost new requirements, make prioritization trade
- offs, and track dependencies.
You will brainstorm new ideas with principal engineers to identify architectural synergies, address requirements, and scale services.
You will review the operational and ticket dashboards to identify and prioritize customer issues resolution.
You will identify resource requirements, hire against it, coach, mentor managers and engineers, and plan their careers.
You will author docs to communicate bold vision and project updates.
About the team
The mission of the Alexa Connected Devices team is to provide a low latency, highly available interfaces and frameworks in Alexa Cloud to enable communication between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud.
This group manages Tier
- 1 Alexa cloud services through which billions of Alexa requests and responses flow through.
The changes we make directly affect the developer experience, and consequently end customer experience.

Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience
- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
