Job Description

Job Title: Head of Industrial Relations & Human Resources

Location: Chennai, India

Experience: 15-20 years


Overview:We are seeking a seasoned industrial relations expert with a strong background in HR and IR to lead our industrial relations and human resources functions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex industrial relations, negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements, as well as implementing HR strategies that drive business results.


Key Responsibilities:


Industrial Relations Management:

Develop and implement effective industrial relations strategies to maintain positive labor relations, manage grievances, and mitigate industrial disputes.

Negotiate collective bargaining agreements with trade unions, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Conduct regular labor market analysis to anticipate and address potential IR issues.


HR Operations:

Design and implement HR policies, procedures, and processes that support business objectives.

Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, talent management, performance management, and employee engagement.

Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies.


Employee Relations:

Foster positive employee relations by addressing employee concerns, resolving grievances, and promoting a healthy work environment.

Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to improve morale, productivity, and retention.

Collaborate with management to resolve employee relations issues and provide guidance on best practices.


Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate risks associated with industrial relations, including strikes, lockouts, and labor disputes.

Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential IR crises.

Provide proactive advice to management on IR-related matters.


Strategic Partnerships:

Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including trade unions, government agencies, and industry associations.

Collaborate with external partners to stay updated on labor market trends and best practices.

Participate in industry forums and conferences to share knowledge and stay informed on IR issues.


Requirements:

15-20 years of experience in industrial relations and HR, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Proven track record of managing complex industrial relations, negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements.

Strong understanding of labor laws, regulations, and industry-specific requirements.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

Ability to think strategically and develop effective solutions to IR challenges.

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations, HR, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
