Sr. Linux Engineer

A Linux System Engineer is responsible for managing, deploying, and operating secure, stable, and scalable Linux-based infrastructure in physical and/or virtual environments. The role focuses on system administration tasks while ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS is a plus, especially in hybrid or transitioning environments.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Manage and maintain Linux infrastructure: Ensure smooth daily operations of Linux systems, including setup, configuration, patching, and system updates.

Monitor system performance: Continuously track and optimize performance of Linux servers and applications to ensure system reliability and uptime.

Implement security measures: Apply security best practices, manage user access controls, firewall configurations, and system hardening to safeguard Linux environments.

Design and deploy systems: Create robust, scalable, and fault-tolerant infrastructure using Linux technologies in alignment with business needs.

Identify and gather system requirements: Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and design appropriate Linux-based infrastructure solutions.

Provision, install, configure, and operate systems: Handle the full lifecycle of Linux systems, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and maintenance.

Ensure data integrity and system backups: Set up and manage backup and recovery procedures, ensuring compliance with retention and disaster recovery policies.

Implement cost-control and efficiency strategies: Optimize resource usage, reduce manual work with automation, and recommend improvements to enhance performance and efficiency.

Monitor and log systems: Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus) and manage logs to proactively detect and resolve issues.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues: Respond to system outages and incidents, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions for both on-prem and cloud-hosted Linux systems.
