Job Purpose:

Responsible for planning, coordination, and on-ground management of drilling materials to ensure uninterrupted rig operations. Ensures timely availability, proper storage, inventory control, and efficient utilisation of drilling materials in line with approved programs and cost controls.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate material requirements for drilling and well operations based on drilling programs, schedules and look-ahead plans. Raise purchase requisitions to meet the project plan.
  • Ensure timely availability of drilling materials including tubulars, wellheads, drilling fluids, cementing materials, chemicals, spares and consumables at rig sites.
  • Coordinate with drilling engineers, rig teams, procurement, finance, logistics and vendors to align material delivery with operational priorities.
  • Manage receipt, inspection, storage, preservation and issuance of materials at site, ensuring compliance with specifications and handling standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, stock levels, material movement logs, and reconciliation between physical and system quantities.
  • Monitor material consumption, identify abnormal usage or losses and highlight variances for corrective action.
  • Implementing MOQ / Buffer stock/ inventory management or optimization techniques.
  • Support material planning for rig moves, mobilization and demobilization activities to avoid delays and excess inventory.
  • Ensure proper documentation for material receipts, issues, returns and transfers to support cost control and audit requirements.
  • Coordinate repair, return, or disposal of surplus, damaged or non-conforming materials as per procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement in material management processes, inventory optimisation and reduction of non-moving or excess stock.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials Management or a related discipline.
  • 3-8 years of experience in materials management or logistics supporting drilling or oil and gas operations.
  • Working knowledge of drilling materials, tubular handling, consumables and site warehousing practices.
  • Strong Understanding of concepts of MOQ, Buffer stock, inventory management concepts, inventory optimization.
  • Experience in inventory control, material reconciliation and coordination with procurement and logistics teams.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and material management modules for inventory tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to work in site-based environments and coordinate with rig crews and multiple contractors.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and documentation discipline.
  • Fluency in local language(s) and willingness to work across multiple operating sites.
