About Northern Trust:

Northern Trust, a Fortune 500 company, is a globally recognized, award-winning financial institution that has been in continuous operation since 1889.

Northern Trust is proud to provide innovative financial services and guidance to the world’s most successful individuals, families, and institutions by remaining true to our enduring principles of service, expertise, and integrity. With more than 130 years of financial experience and over 22,000 partners, we serve the world’s most sophisticated clients using leading technology and exceptional service.

Join our dynamic, tech-forward internal communications team as a Sr. Communications Specialist for India and the APAC region. In this strategic and hands-on role, you'll help shape how we connect with employees across Asia Pacific—ensuring alignment with our global vision while celebrating local voices. You'll collaborate with senior leaders and global colleagues to craft compelling narratives, drive engagement, and deliver measurable impact through innovative, digital-first communications.

We're seeking a creative storyteller and data-driven communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment. If you have 7+ years of experience and a passion for using technology to elevate internal messaging, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with India leadership and global teams to develop strategic communication plans that align with business goals and unify messaging across initiatives.

  • Create and execute high-impact campaigns using a variety of formats—emails, videos, infographics, virtual events—to inform and inspire employees.

  • Manage internal channels including SharePoint, email, social platforms, and virtual events to ensure messages reach employees wherever they are.

  • Own internal communications for India/APAC, ensuring consistency with global messaging while tailoring content for local relevance.

  • Lead initiatives that foster employee engagement and feedback, such as recognition programs and culture-building campaigns.

  • Support crisis communications and business continuity efforts, delivering timely and reassuring updates during critical events.

  • Collaborate with external comms, HR, IT, and other teams to ensure alignment and support for cross-functional initiatives.

  • Track KPIs and employee feedback to evaluate communication effectiveness and continuously refine strategies using data and emerging tools.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Outstanding writing and editing skills; able to simplify complex topics and coach leaders on effective messaging.

  • Strategic thinker with strong consultative skills; able to advise leaders and align communications with business priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Poppulo, ON24, and other digital tools; comfortable experimenting with new formats and technologies.

  • Skilled in using analytics to measure impact and optimize communication strategies based on data insights.

  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills; able to work across cultures and time zones.

  • Creative and forward-thinking; always looking for new ways to engage employees and elevate internal storytelling.

  • Professional, resilient, and calm under pressure; able to handle sensitive situations with discretion and confidence.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred; advanced degrees or certifications a plus.

  • 7+ years in internal communications or related field, ideally in a global or multi-national organization.

  • Experience working in or with APAC regions; able to adapt messaging for cultural and regional nuances.

  • Proven experience supporting senior leaders with messaging, presentations, and executive communications.
