Senior Accountant, General Accountant

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • General Ledger Management:
    • Oversee the maintenance, reconciliation, and accuracy of the general ledger accounts.
    • Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries and adjustments.
    • Review and approve account/Balance-sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Month-End Close:
    • Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to gather required information and meet deadlines.
    • Prepare and review closing reports and other analytical or closing reports.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as applicable.
    • Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and insights for management reporting.
  • Technical Accounting:
    • Ensure accurate application of accounting standards to business transactions.
    • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on financial reporting.
  • Audit Support:
    • Serve as the point of contact for internal and external auditors during financial audits.
    • Provide necessary documentation, explanations, and support to facilitate the audit process.
    • Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes for greater efficiency.
    • Collaborate with IT and other departments to implement process enhancements.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes and suggest further improvements.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal control procedures and policies.
    • Perform regular reviews and testing of controls to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
    • Identify and mitigate risks related to financial processes and reporting.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to MDT corporate policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Monitor and maintain compliance with tax regulations and financial reporting obligations.
    • Develop and maintain documentation related to compliance activities and procedures.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with finance, tax, treasury, and operations teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
    • Communicate financial information and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
    • Foster a collaborative work environment to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

SPECIALIST CAREER STREAM: 

Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education.

    May manage projects, requiring delegation of work and review of others' work product.

Required Knowledge and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or CPA/CA certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4/5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on controllership functions.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (SAP – S4 Hana).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
