Job Title-Director of Sports

Position Overview

The University invites applications for the post of Director of Sports to lead, develop, and manage its sports and physical education programs. The position focuses on high-performance sports, revenue generation through sports activities, introduction of new sports, and achieving excellence at state and national level competitions.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement strategic plans to win medals at state, inter-university, and national level sports events.
• Develop and manage high-performance athlete development programs, including talent identification and elite training systems.
• Generate revenue by organizing sports academies, coaching camps, tournaments, leagues, and training programs for outside students, schools, clubs, and the public.
• Introduce and promote new and emerging sports based on student interest and national/international trends.
• Plan, develop, and optimally utilize sports infrastructure and facilities.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate coaches, trainers, and support staff.
• Build partnerships with sports federations, sponsors, corporate bodies, and government agencies.
• Ensure compliance with university policies and governing sports bodies (UGC, AIU, state/national federations).

Qualifications

• Masters Degree in Physical Education / Sports Science / Sports Management or related discipline.
• PhD or equivalent professional experience in sports administration is desirable.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in sports administration, coaching, or sports management at a University / State / National level.
• At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role such as Deputy Director of Sports, Sports Officer, Head Coach, or equivalent.
• Proven track record of medal achievements at state and/or national level competitions.
• Demonstrated experience in revenue generation through sports programs, academies, events, or facility utilization.
• Experience in introducing and developing new sports disciplines within an institutional framework.
