Job Description

Job Summary


The Speech Therapist under the My Health Passport (MHP) program will support children withspeech, language, communication, and feeding-related functional challengesthroughassessment-based and evidence-informed interventions. The role emphasizesearly identification, functional communication development, classroom participation, and collaborative practice, along withresearch-oriented documentation and outcome tracking, within anon-stigmatizing and child-centered framework.


Key Responsibilities


1. Speech, Language & Communication Assessment


  • Conductformal and informal speech-language assessmentsin line with professional guidelines
  • Assess areas including:
  • Receptive and expressive language
  • Speech sound production and clarity
  • Fluency and voice (as relevant)
  • Pragmatic/social communication
  • Oral-motor and feeding-related skills (where applicable)
  • Interpret findings toidentifyfunctional communication needs
  • Prepareclear, structured assessment reportsfor schools and parents using child-friendly, functional language

2. Individualized Intervention & Therapy

  • Developindividualized speech and language intervention plansbased on assessment outcomes
  • Provideone-to-one and small-group therapy sessions
  • Support children with:
  • Language delays and communication difficulties
  • Speech sound disorders
  • Social communication challenges
  • Functional communication needsimpactingclassroom learning
  • Monitor progress and adapt intervention strategies accordingly

3. Classroom & School-Based Support

  • Collaborate with teachers to:
  • Support classroom communication needs
  • Modify instructional strategies and communication demands
  • Enhance participation, comprehension, and expressive skills
  • Provide classroom-friendly strategies for supporting speech and language development

4. Parent Guidance & Psychoeducation

  • Explain assessment findings and therapy goals to parents in a sensitive and understandable manner
  • Provide home-based strategies to support:
  • Language stimulation
  • Speech practice
  • Functional communication in daily routines
  • Encourage consistency between school, therapy, and home environments

5. Research & Evidence-Based Practice

  • Demonstrateenthusiasm for research and reflective practice
  • Participate in:
  • Systematic documentation of assessment and intervention outcomes
  • Data collection for MHP program evaluation
  • Case summaries and practice-based research initiatives
  • Assistin:
  • Development of communication-related screening tools
  • Outcome analysis and reporting
  • Stay updated with current research in speech-language pathology and child communication development


6. Multidisciplinary Collaboration


  • Work closely with:
  • Psychologists
  • Special Educators
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Participate in MHP case discussions, reviews, and planning meetings
  • Recommend referrals for medical oradditionalevaluations whenrequired, within professional scope

7. Documentation, Ethics & Compliance

  • Maintainaccuraterecords including:
  • Assessment reports
  • Therapy plans
  • Progress and outcome summaries
  • Ensure confidentiality, ethical conduct, and child safeguarding
  • Adhere to professional standards, school policies, and MHP protocols

8. Program Support & Capacity Building

  • Contribute to:
  • Teacher training sessions on communication-friendly classrooms
  • School awareness programs on speech and language development
  • Development of speech-language resources under MHP

Qualifications

  • Bachelors orMastersdegree inSpeech-Language Pathology / Speech Therapy
  • RCIRegistered Speech Therapist / Speech-Language Pathologist(as per applicable professional standards)
  • Experience inpediatric or school-based speech therapypreferred
  • Demonstrated interest inassessment, research, and outcome-based practice
