Solution Architect HPC and Container Platform

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Solution Architect with expertise in High Performance Computing (HPC) and container platforms in Linuxbased environments to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting solutions including (but not limited to) installation, configuration, integration, and implementation of HPC technologies and enterprisegrade container orchestration platforms.

We are looking for a candidate with strong technical skills and a proven track record of designing and working with container platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, CNCF Kubernetes, HPC schedulers such as Slurm or PBS Pro, cluster management technologies such as Bright Cluster Manager, and the ability to work in a dynamic, customerfocused environment requiring excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Strategy

• Develop HPC and container platform roadmaps and strategies based on business needs.
• Engage in the complete service lifecyclefrom conceptualization and design to implementation and operations.
• Identify growth paths and scalability options and incorporate them into solution designs.

2. Solution Planning and Design

• Gather requirements, assess technical feasibility, and design integrated HPC and container solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Architect and optimize technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Identify potential challenges, risks, and constraints influencing solution and project planning.

3. Opportunity Assessment

• Respond to technical sections of RFIs/RFPs and lead proofofconcept engagements to completion.
• Apply effective consultative approaches to advance opportunities.

4. Innovation and Research

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in HPC, Kubernetes, containers, cloud computing, and security.
• Develop best practices, accelerators, and show & tell assets for HPC and container platform integrations.

5. CustomerCentric Mindset

• Strong focus on understanding customer business requirements and solving complex cloud technology issues.
• Serve as a trusted advisor, delivering exceptional customer experiences and ensuring customer success.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to nontechnical stakeholders.

6. Team Collaboration

• Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (system administrators, developers, data scientists, project managers) for successful delivery.
• Understand roles and effectively engage with other internal teams.
• Mentor new team members and contribute to tech talks, forums, and innovation activities.

Required Skills

Technical Expertise

• Strong knowledge and experience with Linux system administration, package management, boot processes, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and networking.
• Handson experience with HPC technologies, workload schedulers (Slurm, PBS Pro), and cluster managers (Bright Cluster Manager).
• Handson experience with container technologies such as Docker, Singularity, Podman.
• Indepth experience with at least two container orchestration platforms such as CNCF Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, RKE/K3S, Canonical Charmed Kubernetes, Ezmeral Runtime (removed).
• Good experience with OpenStack cloud solutions.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM, OpenShift Virtualization.
• Handson experience with at least two Linux distributions: RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu, Debian.

Additional Technical Knowledge

• Good knowledge of GPU technologies (generic phrasing without brand references).
• Understanding of HPC networking stacks and highspeed networking (e.g., InfiniBand, Mellanox).
• Experience with performance optimization and health assessment of HPC components such as OS, storage, servers, parallel file systems, schedulers, and container orchestration platforms.
• Proficiency in programming/scripting languages: Python, Bash.
• Good understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, routing, and load balancing.
• Knowledge of protocols like TCP/IP, S3, FTP, NFS, SMB/CIFS.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tools.
