Job Description

Job Overview:

We’re seeking a Solutions Architect to design and guide end‑to‑end solutions across our Corporate Systems portfolio (Finance, HR, Procurement, Corporate Systems). You’ll partner with business and technology leaders to translate strategy and requirements into secure, scalable architectures—producing clear solution diagrams, target-state designs, and engineering-ready specifications aligned to enterprise technology standards.  Candidates with experience in Workday Financials & HR are strongly preferred. A solid technical background and the ability to dive from architecture to hands-on validation is essential.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Own solution architecture for Corporate Systems initiatives—from concept through delivery—balancing business outcomes, security, cost, and time-to-value.

  • Model architectures (context, logical, physical, data, and integration views) using Fortrea-standard tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart).

  • Design integrations between Workday and adjacent systems (ERP, data platforms, identity, payroll, procurement, analytics), leveraging APIs, EIBs, & iPaaS/ESB.

  • Define non-functional requirements (availability, performance, security, scalability, operability) and ensure solutions meet enterprise technology standards (cloud, cyber, networking, data, identity, observability).

  • Create build-ready specs: interface contracts, data mappings, sequence diagrams, deployment topology, and infrastructure-as-code guidance (where applicable).

  • Partner across teams (Security, Networking, Data, Platform, Engineering, PMO) to remove blockers and ensure consistent patterns.

  • Lead Architecture Review Boards (ARBs), documenting trade-offs and guiding governance checkpoints.

  • Support delivery: validate designs during build, participate in defect triage, and drive release-readiness across tenants.

  • Champion best practices for reusability, standardization, and modernization (cloud-native services, managed integrations, event-driven design).

  • Mentor engineers and analysts; uplift solution design quality with templates, exemplars, and reference architectures.

Qualifications (Minimum Required):

  • 7+ years in solution architecture, application/integration architecture, or senior engineering roles; 3+ years in Corporate Systems (Finance/HR) domains.

  • Hands-on experience designing Workday integrations and configurations (preferably Workday Financials & HR) or equivalent ERP/HCM platforms.

  • Proficiency in solution diagramming and architectural documentation, including integration and data flow design.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise standards:

    • Cloud (Azure), Sailpoint, & network security.

    • Integration (SFTP, message queues, iPaaS/ESB).

    • Data (ETL/ELT, data modeling, MDM/reference data, data quality).

    • Observability (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting).

  • Excellent communication skills: ability to simplify complexity and align diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems Management, Enterprise Architecture, or MBA with Technology Focus (preferred).

  • Direct experience with Workday Studio, EIB, Report Writer, Business Processes; familiarity with Workday Financials modules (GL, AP/AR, Expenses, Projects) and Workday HCM (Core HR, Comp, Recruiting, Talent).

  • Experience with Azure services (APIM, Functions, Logic Apps, Event Hub, Data Factory, Key Vault).

  • Knowledge of security & compliance (SOX, segregation of duties, least privilege, data privacy).

  • Background in data & analytics integration (data lake, BI, semantic models).

  • Prior work in shared services (Procurement, Payroll, Identity/IAM, Service Management) and ServiceNow workflows.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a vehicle safely.

  • Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • Occasional crouching, stooping, with frequent bending and twisting of upper body and neck.

  • Ability to access and use a variety of computer software developed both in-house and off-the-shelf.

  • Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwise moves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum lift of 15-20 lbs.

  • Regular and consistent attendance.

  • Varied hours may be required.
